Well...the snipers using such weapons can only carry less then 100 rounds of .50cal. rounds.As the weapon itself already is a burden.So the bigger your gun,the bigger round it uses,the lesser rounds can be carried.I would hate to carry little rounds into war...as rounds is not one thing i ever want to run out of in a combat zone,

First off, .50cal is also known as 12.7mm.
Donchoo & Ae86tofu, .50 cal has a far longer range then a 7.62mm/ .308.
Heng@, those larger caliber weapons are definately better in terms of power as compare to .50 cal. But they are also much heavier & more complicated to maintain in the field then the Barret thats why you'll hardly see them in action.

anyways, they certainly are more ley cheh, but then they have specialised application uses so someone somewhere will find some use for them -
Ae86tofu, semi-auto sniper rifles like PSG-1 & so on are indeed good weapons for sniping. The reason why most snipers prefer bolt-action against semi-auto is because bolt-action rifles have less movable parts which reduces movement of the barrel when firing. Also the fact that the bolt action rifle is a follow through action, which means that the bolt does not eject the spent cartridge immediately after firing. Again this reduces movement of the weapon as compared to a semi-auto. Lastly, its all about the challenge of using a bolt action rifle against an enemy with superior fire power & coming out the winner.
Ooh! I forgot, semi-auto rifles like the PSG-1 are quite costly as compared to a bolt action rifle.
