i think not. i believe in a real war, we can only deterred attacks for a while. once our aggressor control the waters around us (SOM), singapore will be throw into a state of chaos, eg, no food supply.
whats your opinion? -
For MOST developed countries, if you can prevent the import of food supplies, that country will not last long. So singapore is not alone there.

singapore will need to pre emp a war and capture new lands. we have to take the initiative to prevent all these blockages of supplies. i'm sure mindef has thought about this

from my opinion though, singapore can defend itself but it is a ques of defending against who....if us, or china then maybe raise white flag is the best option

You will see a strong international military reaction (ie.- lead by the US pacific fleet). Military wise, Singapore can defend itself - this is not an issue. But there are other bigger factors to be concerned about. -
still can la... but for limited period... b4 our food runs out, istana would've called backup liao... so shouldnt be a worry...

Singapore can defend itself - just, but only for a very limited amount of time before it is overrun or just cannot support itself.
of course, after that, the war is not yet over, as some sort of resistance movement can be maintained under occupied circumstances.
no one would really use nukes if they really want to make use of what theyve got.
its like taking someones drink, sh*tting in it, and then trying to drink it yourself.

Singapore can defend itself, but only just - theres just a very basic geographical and demographic factor that says Singapore wont last long in an all out war.
It has alot of high-tech weaponry and associated equipment, but that'll really only be a delay for any assaulting force.
take on a different stance, as a mobile guerilla force - thats where it'll work in fighting back. -

Going to war is no small matter. So my qn is how would our allies stand to gain by helping keep singapore free?
Oh, i sure there will be much posturing by our allies b4 the war. But once war breaks out and Enemy forces has landed in singapore, will our allies then help free singapore? -

in south east asia...who can match our navy and air force? thai maybe?? but we good fren with them....
in term of army... our full force including all our old nsmen is not that small u know..only indo can win us in that...but unless they all are very good swimmer or suddenly all got wings if not how they get over here? m'sia or indo got only maybe 20% of our air lift or sea transport capability at most.
and with our urban built up how many troop they need to clear us?? those that try fibua b4 will know.....
conclusion. the only way we can say goodbye to our singapore flag is when some TALENT in the ivory tower decided that it will better for the "CITIZEN" to surrender or merge... if not.... bomb us all they wan, kill us all if they wan, all they can get is empty building and nothing more....
and dun forget we still have our second strike capability... -
