January 17, 1991 air strikes begin
February 26, 1991 , Iraqi troops pullout from Kuwait.
Can you survive that long? -

The potential enemy between singapore and kuwait , which would he choose ? a country with foreign gold/cash reserves of 100 billion or a country with underground oil which requires drilling , extracting , refining , transporting through pipelines

B.if he plans to occupy the area for a long time??
Option B is what iraq did . But their plans got thwarted .
Cause they stayed for a few months only.

1. A foreign adversary would surely know that the USA will kick it's ass if it occupy beyond the deadline given by the UN.
2. Knowing that he would get his ass kicked.
3. He would not go and spend his time gathering the natural resources, oil
diamonds , minerals from the area.
4. Instead , and most logically , he would loot the diamonds/golds , cash ,
assets from the country instead and transport them through trucks
after invading.
What ive mention is to illustrate that , Singapore is a sweeter target then Kuwait. -

In this modern day and age,the best way to defeat an enemy is to suck them into deadly and taxing urban combat.Bombed out buildings provide excellent sniping hideouts for snipers crucially taking out key personnel and signallers.The most effective way to beating an emeny is to suck them into a position where thay are ineffective in carrying out their operations,are uncomfortable and are also unable to be supported easily.
People keep saying that Singapore is so small,we would be easily over-runned etc...I won't deny that as a fact,but I would appeal that you look at it from a different perspective,Singapore is so small that it would be easier to defend as we are more able to consolidate our forces and organise defence and attack accordingly with support units within at most an hour away.And besides,although people all over the world keep saying ugly Singaporean this...ugly Singaporean that...I'm sure that when the time comes for us to stand up and pick up arms,many will rush forward in the same spirit as well.Not because of the Lee Dynasty,not because of the Economy,nor is it the wonderful Katong Laksa,but bacause of our family and each other. In fact,its quite sad that people only see the bad side of us Singaporeans,but they fail to see the willingness of Singaporeans to step-forward to help one another in crisis.

Half a million troops in a urban warfare setting.That's suicide for any force that ties to gain ground inside our own borders.But the big question remains, how many of these 500K can actually fight?Though unknown, I think we will fight for our loved ones, the smile on the faces fo our kids, the love showered on us by our families and moved ones.People might die, but ultimately, if we have to ever fight a war in our own land, we will pick up arms and fight like cornered bulldogs, no matter whether we believe in war or peace.For by that time, it will be the primitive inside each and every human being that will kill as a reflexive action to protect him/herself.
Bloodshed, terror, pain.But if we can look past that and think of our families and yes, that Katong Laksa.I think we're still human. -
The SAF was designed to counter a single primary threat: the country immediately to the north of us. The secondary threat was the country to the south of us. It is a very nation-specific military doctrine that the SAF has. But to the orginal question: Can Singapore defend itself? You bet your last dollar we can! I'd be willing to stake my life that for every fucker who says he's gonna run during a conflict, there are 10 who will stay behind and defend our people. We've got the largest, most sophisticated military in the region. Whether or not pessimistic assholes who dare to call themselves "Singaporean" know that or not is not as important as the fact that our potential aggressors know that. And boy are they wise not to mess with us militarily. -
Very well said! But when push comes to shove, the fighting will not be done on Singapore soil.
