Can't . You need to plough through hundreds of miles around the South China Sea/ Malacca Strait Area. Chances are pirates will find you or you will run out of supplies.Originally posted by progene:So wad do we do if it really happen?

Oil itself is called "black gold" , it requires some process before we are to use it. It itself is a natural resource.Originally posted by lwflee:And kuwait is oil rich and thus actually matters in the scheme of things....
Not so for singapore.
maybe too much weapon..want to get rid the old ones..Originally posted by Gordonator:well, US is known to poke their nose in other people's business.![]()
Whether Singapore will win or lose in a war is an academic question.... too many variables to make a definitive statement. Who we're fighting against, what their strength is like, what our strength is like, blah blah blah....Originally posted by SGpork:maybe too much weapon..want to get rid the old ones..

As for me, I don't have time for all that crap. Just gimme my SAR 21 and I'll blast a few 5.56mm holes in our enemies.
then have you also tot, whoever in the region has such an ability against us?Originally posted by SGpork:but have u tot.. u havent even open fire.. u already dead![]()

This is not about whether you love the government, or whether you hate the way society here is run. It's about personal and familial survival. We have the theoretical ability to turn this whole island into something worse than Fallujah. And it will be urban warfare with a coherent doctrine carried out by troops who know each and every nook and cranny of the island. If you take into account the males who have military experience, we have more than 500000 guys who have been in the SAF before.Originally posted by SpecOps87:Get me an M16 with M203 and plenty of ammunition and grenades. Will blast the c**k-suckers one at a time till I run out of ammo or get killed.
In this modern day and age,the best way to defeat an enemy is to suck them into deadly and taxing urban combat.Bombed out buildings provide excellent sniping hideouts for snipers crucially taking out key personnel and signallers. The most effective way to beating an emeny is to suck them into a position where thay are ineffective in carrying out their operations, are uncomfortable and are also unable to be supported easily.
People keep saying that Singapore is so small,we would be easily over-runned etc...I won't deny that as a fact, but I would appeal that you look at it from a different perspective,Singapore is so small that it would be easier to defend as we are more able to consolidate our forces and organise defence and attack accordingly with support units within at most an hour away. And besides, although people all over the world keep saying ugly Singaporean this...ugly Singaporean that...I'm sure that when the time comes for us to stand up and pick up arms, many will rush forward in the same spirit as well. Not because of the Lee Dynasty, not because of the Economy, nor is it the wonderful Katong Laksa, but bacause of our family and each other. In fact, its quite sad that people only see the bad side of us Singaporeans, but they fail to see the willingness of Singaporeans to step-forward to help one another in crisis.
Any country which thinks that Singapore is a tempting target, you had better think twice or even thrice...perhaps you should wipe that thought of your mind.As we will be ready, ready to receive and welcome your hostile arrival with a lead and explosive filled BANG!
The SAF was designed to counter a single primary threat: the country immediately to the north of us. The secondary threat was the country to the south of us. It is a very nation-specific military doctrine that the SAF has. Exactly like Israel.Originally posted by fudgester:Whether Singapore will win or lose in a war is an academic question.... too many variables to make a definitive statement. Very well said! But when push comes to shove, the fighting will not be done on Singapore soil. If Singapore is a "little red dot," then any potential aggressor will have a very bad case of chicken pox when the SAF is fully mobilised.Originally posted by LazerLordz:This is not about whether you love the government, or whether you hate the way society here is run. It's about personal and familial survival. We have the theoretical ability to turn this whole island into something worse than Fallujah. And it will be urban warfare with a coherent doctrine carried out by troops who know each and every nook and cranny of the island. If you take into account the males who have military experience, we have more than 500000 guys who have been in the SAF before.
Half a million troops in a urban warfare setting. That's suicide for any force that ties to gain ground inside our own borders. But the big question remains, how many of these 500K can actually fight?Though unknown, I think we will fight for our loved ones, the smile on the faces fo our kids, the love showered on us by our families and moved ones.People might die, but ultimately, if we have to ever fight a war in our own land, we will pick up arms and fight like cornered bulldogs, no matter whether we believe in war or peace. For by that time, it will be the primitive inside each and every human being that will kill as a reflexive action to protect him/herself.
Bloodshed, terror, pain. But if we can look past that and think of our families and yes, that Katong Laksa.I think we're still human.

ya that pretty much explains it all.Originally posted by kopiosatu:you can't compare a primus with tank, its is after all - artillery.
the benefit would be that we won't need 3 or 5 tonners towing it.
