ah, it's actually the 7-tonners that does the towing.Originally posted by kopiosatu:you can't compare a primus with tank, its is after all - artillery.
the benefit would be that we won't need 3 or 5 tonners towing it.
Singapore has national reserves specially kept for a purpose ,even before taking into account how much the Gulf War has cost Kuwait , to fund the coalition forcestalking abt national reserves, i ever heard from my lecturer tt singapore's national reserves far exceds from ani other country from SEA...but not sure abt the figures
idwar is a very good example of what happens to an apparently divisive bunch of people when an external threat appears. We Singaporeans complain about everything and anything. But when we have a cause to unite for, we unite strong! Singapore is strong; whether "they" believe it or not does not matter. We know it.Originally posted by fudgester:Gentlemen..... to heck with idwar. He's trying to get his kicks out of inflaming setiments. Poor souls like him think it's nice to get a sexual charge out of making other people angry in online forums.
The best (and most cruel) thing we can do to him is to ignore him.... Deprive him of his kicks.
Let him spout his nonsense.... the rest of us civilised people have got more important things to talk about.
That's a given. Singapore is the most economically prosperous country in SEA. In published reports, we have a little over US$100 billion in reserves. Mind you, that's only what's published.Originally posted by kaka_22:talking abt national reserves, i ever heard from my lecturer tt singapore's national reserves far exceds from ani other country from SEA...but not sure abt the figures

The war in Iraq pushed the defence budget of the United States up $466 billion, including R&D costs and infrastructural costs, not to mention production of military equipment e.g JSF, Raptor, the stealth warships and the new submarine class projects.Go figure..Originally posted by kaka_22:hmm if singapore a little over $100 billion then i wonder countries like US how much???![]()
The US national debt is at an all-time high of US$7.7 trillion.... and counting.Originally posted by LazerLordz:The war in Iraq pushed the defence budget of the United States up $466 billion, including R&D costs and infrastructural costs, not to mention production of military equipment e.g JSF, Raptor, the stealth warships and the new submarine class projects.Go figure..![]()

Intelligence, everywhere there is, even in sgforums here.Originally posted by Ara:I believe Singapore can defend herself.
Intelligence is key, if they don't sneak up on us, I don't see why Singapore will definitely lose.

do you think all the tourist are really tourist? and dun 4get we have an eye in the sky 24/7.
i agree and north korea might want to show her poweress on a small island which is likely to be Singapore....Originally posted by fandango:singapore is actually within the range of any nuclear missile launch from north korea. infact, these missile can reach as far as the northern part of australia.
we may deter any land, sea, air assault. but we are totally vulnerable to any warheads flying towards us.
Massing at the borders... I think the enemy can only achieve this to a certain degree only. For example by only a few thousand troops (not more). They can use the peak hours at the Causeway , as example, to mask troops movements. But beyond this number, it is difficult. Any armed forces has a variety of intelligence gathering sources which feed info and also corroborate info. It is difficult to mask troop movements , beyond a few battalions size. You may be able to launch a limited surprise strike but may not be able to sustain the attack. So what is the objective? As the enemy, you only stir up some trouble but to what gain? SAF is not so weak or unprepared.Originally posted by Ara:i understand what is said about the peace time spying and intelligence gathering but i sometimes wonder to myself that is it possible for our opponents to amass at our borders (within striking range of infantry) without us knowing. you know like a sneak attack. i assume that jets can attack us at any moment with short notice but you would still need the infantry to take the ground. they can't possibly air drop the entire invasion force right?
maybe they can all change into civilian and harbour first on their own side??
Which comes to why we are looking at ABM options like the Arrow, Patriot PAC-3 and the S-300 system.(ADJ Yearbook2005)Originally posted by wonderamazement:i agree and north korea might want to show her poweress on a small island which is likely to be Singapore....
