SISPEC - Help!

I will be posted to Sispec tomorrow, argh! I don't want to go command school. Even if I were posted to command school, I rather go OCS (the pay is better)
There are a few questions that I would like to ask:
- Can I reject SISPEC?
- Which companies are doing BSLC when I join SISPEC?
- How do I avoid going ASLC?
- Which company is the slackest of all?
- How much sleep will I get on average? (I need to sleep, or I will become grumpy!
)
- Do I need to express interest if I want to cross over to OCS?
- Most importanly! How many outfield camps will I have to do during my BSLC?!
- When will sniper course take place? Is it siong?

anyway no you cant reject your posting. as for the companies, you will have to find out yourself. avoid going to aslc? just to perform too well i guess. it really doesnt matter which company is the slackest, since you will not be able to choose which company you go to. they will always try to ensure at least 7 hrs of sleep - according to the TSR. yes you need to express your interest in crossing over, but more importantly, you need to perform and perform well! but that puts you in the risk of being sent to aslc instead. dilemma huh? outfield camps? not sure, but lots of outfield training as i know it. its long 4, sbo and camo from the start of the day till the end of it for most of the course. and yes, you will be able to endure and survive and go through it. many have! -
Oh.. I heard from my PC that you can reject OCS posting, so I was wondering if I can reject SISPEC as well... I don't really want to go ASLC, I hate being in the infantry... Lolz... Those threads say how fit the WOs are and how crazy they can be almost scare the shit out of me... wuming78 said that I need to do well to cross over to OCS, but then they might send me for ASLC, argh... I don't know what will happen in the next phase of my NS life...
Anyone know anything about the sniper course after ASLC? I heard they have to under POW training. BTW, what is POW training? -

I remember that god-awful feeling of dread when the webpage finally loaded and my posting read: Basic Section Leader. Was bitching about it the whole weekend. Kinda pity my friends who had to put up with methose two days! Haha!
Anyway, I got OOCed during the second week of SISPEC because of a shin condition aggravated during BMT and spent the next 6 weeks at Golf coy doing sai kang. Then I got posted out. Looking back though, I wish I had been able to complete my training.
While SISPEC is siong, you will survive it and look back on your experiences one day and be glad that you went through it. You will feel good about yourself and what you have accomplished. So go for it! -

their intake really very small, maybe only 20+ ppl will go and i think sniper course is held 2 times per year only.
generally, most of the trainees who got posted out after BSLC ends up either in Armour, Engineers, Signals, Arty or Bde recce -
well, u will survive your Suffering in Slience plus Extra/Endless Confinements.

tell u what, in SISPEC, u can forget about getting enough sleep, going canteen, admin time etc. lots of outfield btw. not forgeting guard duties too. enjoy.

Ans: No... unless ur daddy is a big shot... but if ur daddy is big shot, u wont be in SISPEC, u will in OCS. haha...

- How do I avoid going ASLC?
Ans: Po Heng Suay... some of my sgts told me CPC long long already planned who to go ASLC or units when u 1st went in SISPEC, dunno how true...
- Which company is the slackest of all?
Ans: Golf... Delta oso not bad. Bravo is so-so. pray u dun kena Echo or Foxtrot... but then again... the newly restructured training schedule not that xiong like last time.
- How much sleep will I get on average? (I need to sleep, or I will become grumpy!
Ans: at least 7 hrs of slp according to TSR. most of the time will have at least 7 hrs... unless ur training drags on n on...
- Do I need to express interest if I want to cross over to OCS?
Ans: yup... tell ur section commander n PC
- Most importanly! How many outfield camps will I have to do during my BSLC?!
Ans: for term 1, there's only 1 outfield camp. a 4 days 3 nites camp called the Summary Exercise. for term 2, there's the infamous 3 days 2 nites Exercise Nutcracker.
- When will sniper course take place? Is it siong?
Ans: this will depend on whether they have any intake anot... only the selected few will go for the sniper course. xiong anot i not really sure... but sniper need to be damn gd at camouflauging... there was 1 issue on snipers featured in the Pioneer magazine a few issues ago.. quite an interesting vocation...

Interesting to see the same concerns and pride involved in SISPEC , compared to my SAFINCOS (the forerunner of SISPEC) days. Just some comparisons...
1) don't think there was a TSR during my time of min. 7 hours sleep ! God favours you if you average 5 hours per nite. Usually, we hope to do well during the week, escape extras, and get the reward of booking out on Friday nites. So that we can sleep the weekend and recover the lost sleep. No girl friends on Saturday nites for the few months in the course, as I remember !
2) I think there are more outfield exercises than what is written in this thread. At least when I was a reservist and I met up with younger chaps from SISPEC and heard from them ... also SAFINCOS in the old days . There are many late night/ overnight TOPO exercises. This is the most important aspect of an infantry leader... so the trainers will maximise time. I believe TOPO is one of the first few subjects taught and this would involve very long days and nights.
3) Also live firings.... quite a number, and about one third as I remember, conducted at night.... so I don't think you get 7 hours sleep on average thru' out the course.
4) My company escaped the summary exercise in Tekong 5 days/ 4 nites.... because that was the time when the strange episode of the dead recruit in Tekong happened. Replaced by 2 packages of 3 day/ 2 nite exercises in the Dairy Farm/ Gombak area... which is now condominiums and Mindef HQ ! This summary exercise was supposed to be the longest outfield during my time. During my time, if you were selected as an appointment holder during the summary exercise ... you are going to be in trouble. Very often the worst performing trainee will be given a last chance to exhibit his leadership skills during the summary exercise near the end of the course. This was not easy as by then, all your platoon mates know you and your weaknesses, and they are also by then, quite relaxed , knowing that they had accumulated enough to pass the course. They may not be bothered to cooperate with you. You will be in for a tough time.
5) Noticed from the various posts that there is an increased amount of pride from people graduating from SISPEC. Was not the case during SAFINCOS. The people who had similar pride were those who were selected to go for the Platoon Sgt's course. Anyway, good for you guys and best wishes !
