Recruits for a long time?

  Does anyone's unit have personnels who are still yet to promote to privates after more than half year since enlisting?
  
  One of my ex-coursemates at OETI have a personnel in his unit (A PES E storeman without A level or Diploma) who is still a recruit almost a year after enlisting.

  not much different being a REC and a PTE, with regard to allowances that is.

  that's only for combatants. the thread starter mentioned that the guy in discussion is a storeman what. so not combat pay for him.
