theoretically....ppl follow the geneva convention...practically....ppl onli follow after the war has ended....Originally posted by Hellraiza:I got a question...
What if we (or any other nation included in the Geneva Convention) go to war with a country that totally has no LOAC (Laws of Armed Conflict) or rules of engagement? They fight dirty, shoot Red Cross personnel/wear Red Cross armbands to prevent being shot at, use child soldiers etc etc...how would we react? I think it's kind of stupid if we follow the ROE if the enemy has no laws at all...what do you guys think? But i think the ground troops will suffer psychologically....imagine having to shoot children/women who are armed and hostile...
regardless of how the other country acts, we have to stick by the rules in order to maintain the moral high ground. all the war criminals can be persecuted after the war (if they are still around).Originally posted by Hellraiza:I got a question...

Maintain the moral high ground...but at what cost? Dead comrades? like..."okay the whole alpha coy of X SIR is KIA due to their refusal to shoot a mob of armed women and children...." is it worth it? Your enemy over your countrymen...for the moral high ground of the country...??Originally posted by wuming78:regardless of how the other country acts, we have to stick by the rules in order to maintain the moral high ground. all the war criminals can be persecuted after the war (if they are still around).
it is not true that soldiers will not shoot at civilians who are ARMED and posing a threat to them.Originally posted by Hellraiza:Maintain the moral high ground...but at what cost? War is such a messy business.
if the women and children are seriously armed and posing a threat to my comrades, between them and my comrades, there is no question about my choice, and i would feel no regret and neither would apologise.Originally posted by Hellraiza:but women and children? wuming would you?
whoever wrote this will not be there with me, is he or she?Originally posted by Hellraiza:I got a question...
