I don't know if you guys feel the same, but IMO, the current no. 4 is very flimsy. If you compare it to the US' BDUs, theirs is more rigid and doesn't feel like pajamas..

i gather that you mean it should be more tough and less prone to wear and tear. actually i think it does - when it is brand new. it is already quite heavy and thick. you wouldnt want it to be any heavier and thicker rite?

anyway i'm quite perplexed over the 2nd photo..
1) why the yellow helmets?
2) what's that guy behind the one with the shield doing? why is he pointing in the same direction? shouldn't he be covering their 6 or something?
3) the purpose of the shield is to cover the whole team while they move to the area in a stacked position. why in this case are they spead out in such a way that the enemy can at least take down 2 of them? kinda like defeats the purpose no? -
It needs more material at the groin and bum area...particularly the Triangle at the groin area. This is because when you sit/squat, mosquitoes/sand flies have a nasty habit of attacking through the material.

i wonder who actually trains them?...outside instructors/advisors from SOF or STAR or SOC from SPF?....or 'inhouse' as in they train by trial and error and improve over time?

Well since they're from 3SIR (UOC), i'd expect them to live up to their name..
And calling them 3SIR (UOC) sounds like the USMC's MEU (SOC). Hahaha at least theirs is SPECIAL OPERATIONS CAPABLE..
Wayang or not, gotta give them credit for at least trying. Hell, we've gotta start somewhere.. -
Actually, i dun really know what the SAF is trying to do here. All infantry should have access to the same training.
As stated above, this is just an experimental unit for the SAF to iron out tactics and SOP so i think the designation is temprorary? S
UOC sounds silly. -
Agreed,The first step must be taken.And Urban Operations Company sounds alright, but I'm sure we need more than one company for LIC. but shouldn't everyone be trained in this aspect of warfare? i mean, then what's the diff between this and FIBUA/MOUT? so does this also mean that 3SIR (UOC) isn't trained in jungle warfare as well as the other companies?
well if you take into consideration the nature of the terrain in singapore, there's quite alot of buildings too so i guess the rest of the units should be trained too after the sop has been established. -

However, circumstances have made it vital that our troops learn about MOUT and how they as a force can utilise urban terrain to their advantage.
Dual training?Might be possible..Higher tempo to come I think.. -
