Deployed relief forces (question)

  Are the men deployed to relief missions(read: tsunami aid etc) armed? Especially those on chinhooks..? Just wondering..

  Should be.But I think only onboard during landing operations.No army would go out without their weapons IMHO.

  Well, I'm not sure and I can't confirm.Just thinking on the normal military mode of operations, which I assume there will always be arms on board.
  
  Anyway, let the RSAF ppl come in..they are clearer on this.But just to note, the sailors and airmen on the USS Abraham Lincoln were not allowed to bring down their personal arms from the ship when they were in Meulaboh.That caused the operations guys to get jitters because it went against their normal routine.

  its a relief operation, not attack.
  
  so there's no need for stuff like MGs sticking out of your aircraft.
  
  anyway the crew have firearms, just in case anything goes wrong.
  
  but they're already told not to fly at unfriendly areas.

  If the SAF relief forces do not bring any arms, the only stuff that we are relieving will not be FOOD, it will include a few Chinnok and superpumas.
  
  The latest earthquake have cases of looting again.
  
  These people never change.
  
  Their Government is just holding on the tsunami funds for their own corruption purposes.
  
  So, how do you expect them to send their own forces to save their own people ?
  
  Singapore is alway so "willing" to send people and money.
  
  With a few more quake coming according to the prediction of the experts, the GST for next year will be shot to 7%.

  If i'm not mistaken, the pilots carry small arms (P226) with them.

  Hmm I reckon there would be arms on board the LSTs and all all that right? Does the LST have an armory of their own or do they draw their weapons from the armory back at base?
  
  And yes sometimes I feel that some of these people actually deserve the earthquakes. I mean come on man, their people have just been hit by quakes and there they go stealing the victim's stuff. WTF? As for the government, don't know lah. No comments.

  hahah.. the next thing you knew.. our helicopters got swamped by angry mobs with knowledge of our armaments. hmm.. i think a handheld flare gun is a must have onboard any aircraft for emergency. as for contingency, guess we will have to wait till the boys are back.

  the lst definitely have an armoury.. their agun aren't for displaying purposes.. you know. as for small-arm.. the answer is a yes. how many? you can keep on guessing..
