Sign On: JPSDS Sergeant Bond, Good?

  I just wonder if i can apply for Joint Poly-SAF Diploma Scheme (JPSDS) after completing my NS.

  I have not entered Poly prior to NS. I intend to go Poly after NS. Btw, in this instance, i have completed NS before signing on. I heard people sign on after completing NS can leave anytime.

  You can still sign on JPSDS after completion of NS (NSF). After completion, you will go for your studies in Poly and after that, you will be a Regular in SAF. But you can't leave anytime. This is because you have a bond with SAF. If you want to leave anytime, you have to pay the liquidated damages to SAF before you are able to leave.
  
  If you are discharged due to poor performance, you still have to pay. If you are discharged due to service injury, etc, then u will leave without paying. Each case is case-by-case basis.

  Actually,you should have went for JPSDS before going for NS since the bond will include NSF.Now you go for JPSDS,it is a little not worth it.But the choice is yours,all the best.

  If I successfully complete the JPSDS Diploma, can i become Officer? It seems JPSDS graduates can only become Specialists.

  hmmm .. i think if you are super garang or they like you very much, they may offer you to change ur contract to the officer's.

  No point cuz your advance is very slow and your pay is almost the same as that of a spec. Unless u are a U grad...
  If u signed as a JPSDS the chances of u becoming an officer is thru conversion which takes place normally only when u reached 2SG ( unless u got lotsa of big shots to sign your recommendations)
  
  Even so your pay is not that of a U grad Officer and your advance is also slower then them....my word of advice no point converting.....

  All I can say is that if you need the $...just sign on.....whether u want to make a career out of it....it's up to u...but i can tell u one thing...if u sign on....u better be a scholar(SAF Oversea or President)....or else ur life will be dictated by these SOBs..... can tell when u ord from SAF and get into the real world just like me after 14 yrs in the navy.....i realised that i'm just like a frog in the well....lots of things to learn...no more protection....and u will be in for quite a cultural shock....luckily i sort of got used to it...
