they are much smaller than the LR...i don't think they can exactly replace the LR. e.g. the jeep only sits 2 ppl. -
saw the news in the papers today. gonna replace the old rovers with SUV.

I have serious doubts of the effectiveness of a civilian SUV in times of combat, especially in areas of crew survivability and where the vehicle can go.

the land rover being replaced by some kind of SUV is old news.. i've seen the SUV being tested before. its brand is not a familiar one.. though i think it was a korean brand. (not hyundai)
the jeep can be employed for many roles. command jeeps are usually those with canvas covers and they can have 2 rear passengers also.. the combat jeeps can be used as light strike, scout, atgm.. they can also sit people at the back wat... -
According to some guy @ Cars forum, the Ssangyong Rextons will take the trusty LR's place. What I'm wondering about is whether the LR Defender chassis is still in production.

Yes, the LandRover Defender is still in production though it has gone through some improvements. The parts for the newer and older models are interchangeable and therefore makes our older landrovers very much serviceable.
And i highly doubt the durability of the Ssangyong Rexton SUVs in the field as well. I'm guessing SAF just intends to use them for recreational purposes. -

since SAF is going to replace the land rover, may as well up the speed limit of land rover and minibus to 60km/hr.
