Originally posted by one-niner:Yes u can, provided u get a CO recommendation at least (not too sure if Bde Comd has to recommend)during your tour as a specialist in the Unit. my coy had a specialist who held a A Level Cert who signed on. he was a Silver Bayonet holder. Topped his PS Course, was a very gd sect comd. Command and Control. He was recommended by my OC to to CO to be sent for OCS training.he eventually went to OCS after the men ORD.
However as a trainee, the possibility of crossing over to OCS for officer training is very rare and infact i haven't heard of regular SISPEC trainees crossing over to OCS back in 2001-2002 when i was a cadet still.
However my PC back in OCS was a SISPEC regular crossover. but that way back in 1996- 1997. So i do belive such career options may or may not exist since then ..
I heard most SISPEC regulars get posted to units and from there,if they really shine, they will be sent to OCS for training. However to cross over from unit to OCS, they must have completed PS tour. Not too sure if they need to complete a staff tour ( i doubt it)

btw,bayonet & ps mean wat?
i think teh respect meant how the saf treats the diff corps ... officers are treated generally with more respect then specs because of the rank hierarchyOriginally posted by jeramy:actually i dun quite agree on the point that officers earn more respect than specs. i think if you are really good in your job, care for your platoon and do your job well i think the men under you would respect you more than the PC whos in the back room doing planning and stuff and the men seldom see him.
as specs are handling more on the ground job they do the direct command and control and when u prove yourself i think your men will tend to want to follow you more. unless of course u are farked up and bo chap then nobody would respect u la.
on the contrary officers are doing more planning and are more "at the back" of things and the men dun really see what the officer is doing so i think yes the men will also respect him but it is more of a "paper respect" like respect becoz of the rank.
The art of taking cover and chao kenging-they regulars always accuse us NSFs of that but I think they are the worse culprits...Originally posted by ditzy:What real skills do you learn in SAF that will enable you to progress in the field of work outside?Don't count office politics and handling of backstabbers.
