well. i certainly hope all these will not go to waste - either NCC cadets will go into NS much more prepared, and be better positioned to serve our country as NSFs and reservists, and furthermore, NCC cadets will be motivated to inspire and excite his non-NCC peers about NS, or all these will make more of you decide to sign on!Originally posted by Lakiun:If you ask me why all these trainings, i have no idea. In fact for the next 5 yrs(they have planned this) the training syllabus would be intensively revised. Hopefully at the end of the day, the cadets will learn valuable skills & knowledge that would well serve this nations need.
*For prestigious courses, we have stringent physical selection by NCC den by SAF followed by stringent medical check up. We also have to go thru Interview conducted by our Commandant (SAF LTC) & Senior NCC Officers where only the best gets selected. Its quite a time, energy and our own money consuming process. For normal courses, we just apply & if we meet minimum criteria, they would try to give us a slot in the course.Originally posted by elitefella:how do they choose the clt's to go for the training?
wha tdo you mean money consuming...?Originally posted by Lakiun:*For prestigious courses, we have stringent physical selection by NCC den by SAF followed by stringent medical check up. *The bus/mrt fare to Amoy Quee camp (We are still students n for poly students we pay full adult fare). Money to have lunch after interview Bcos interviews can be quite long dat it make us hungry. Some of the overseas courses, we are subsidised but yet we have to fork out our own cash as a guarantee that we will not back off, eg. Ex Lancer $100, USA trip n rest would b more.Originally posted by elitefella:wha tdo you mean money consuming...?

*Oh yes hahax amost forgot bout Ex-WallabyOriginally posted by quivalen:incidentally some NCC cadets - mostly CLTs IIRC - went down to visit wallaby last year, too. anyone of those guys lurking out there? maybe i was your lsv joyride driver. ;-)
no i'm not a guardsman but i'm lsv trained.Originally posted by Lakiun:*Oh yes hahax amost forgot bout Ex-Wallaby... U guardsman? Is der any difference between LSV n Spider LSV?
There's more to the spider actually..but we'll have to wait and see.Originally posted by quivalen:no i'm not a guardsman but i'm lsv trained.
uhm. well the 'normal' lsv - flyer - is made by a US company, IIRC (or aussie, i forgot) whereas the spider is designed by STK. they're still very similar though - main difference is that the spider is a 6 seater compared to the flyer's 3. the spider is also supposed to be able to come in many configs - command, atgm, casevac and so on although i've not seen any but the vanilla versions. can't tell you much more as i've not had much experience with the spider.
oh and the spider can be fitted with an overhead covering to provide shade to the crew! very important! ;-)

*heard dat sumwhere b4...tink during the briefing...Actually the 7 click didn't feel like 7km at all....we actuali felt the distance was longer...mayb due to the very uneven terrains especially when we meet wif very steep ground & of course how can i forget the heat.Though jungle covered by thick trees canopy, the heat was sure way worst den now dat we are experiencing in s'pore and when it rains it means hell to us....wif the loads being carried,we felt off balance during each climb of the final 7click hike. i remebered being told dis; "Tough time does not last forever but tough man do." It was a good experience(hahax i lost nearly 5 kg for the 10/11 days).SAF JCC hopefulli next time....will taste the real most siong thing of jungle training.Originally posted by one-niner:called also the 7 wonders right ?
