although with regards to what gordonator said about race, then yes, if you aren't chinese or indian, i wouldn't hold my breath waiting if i were you. ;-) but the rest of what he mentioned doesn't matter. -
Unless there's been a radical change in the times, one of the more popular catch phrases you'll hear at Hendon is "can means can".
If you're an NS man, what you want or don't want is of little, if any, relevance to Mindef. If you're slated to go to Commandos, you will. Just a few points of note:
- For NS men, it's direct intake; if you've done your BMT somewhere else, you won't be transferring in.
- PES A is the only hard-and-fast requirement - apart from that, if you've got a modicum of intelligence, you might be shortlisted, although I did have some company mates who seemed to defy this rule of thumb.
- If someone asks you if you want to go to Commandos, chances are that you're shortlisted. Mind you, the answer doesn't matter; I asked if I had a choice and the sargeant said no, so I then asked him what the f*** he was asking me for. I got in anyway.
- As a casual observation, the gung-ho ones often have a lower chance of making it to the beret than those who take it easy. -

Well, the aforementioned sargeant ended up being one of the section commanders in my platoon during BMT. In this day and age of panty-liner NS, even if the officer did take your IC number down, there's not a whole lot he's going to be able to do about it. No need to get your cheeks in a flush. -
when will i get the chance for some1 to ask me if i want to b in cdos or nt??? & when do i take my ippt??? before or after the checkup???

Sheesh, you obviously haven't read what I've written - with every passing question your chances of making it to the beret are getting slimmer and slimmer. If it's going to happen, it will in good time. In the meantime, holding your breath isn't going to do your cardiovascular system any favours.
