Remember NDP Preview 1991..yes, long time ago...one fella in the guard of honor collapsed during the national anthem. He was in the front row and everyone started pointing at him. But we could not evacuate the guy during national anthem...and after that came the pledge...sigh..

What nonsense is that? He cannot be evacuated because he collapsed during the national anthem? I would have screwed the anthem and the pledge. Nope. Orders were to hold until anthem and pledge over, then evacuate from behind. Cannot run in front with a stretcher to take him out too...Originally posted by lwflee:What nonsense is that? Look, the guy fainted --> He is likely to be sick --> We dunno how sick he is, but we know he is sick enough to risk riducule and confinements to faint --> YET, some idiot decides to give the order "OH no no, Hold until after the national anthem and the pledge is over. And then try and be discreet. Remember, must look nice".

Well, if any participant feels unwell before the parade, the onus is on him to fall out and not join the parade in the first place. RSMs always warn the participants to fall out if they are not feeling well, many times before the parade. They also make it clear that fainting during a parade is a chargeable offence.
Let me say from personal experience, GOH will get pissed at anyone who faints during parade b'cos the rest of us trained so blardy hard, and one guy can spoil the whole show for us. Very little pity for the person who fainted, b'cos we all know very well if we can't tahan, then we shld fall out beforehand. Sounds heartless, but that's how we felt. -
not feeling well, you can always fall out. that's what reserves are for during parades
