Can't say I remember that one - I was in the Army GOH contingent so I couldn't see what was going on from where I was. During the rehearsals (for both SAF day and NDP), we did have quite a number of guys collapse, especially from the Navy contingent. For myself, I just leaned against my M16 and had a snooze until I heard the RSM go, "BARIS.....!".Originally posted by oxford mushroom:Remember NDP Preview 1991..yes, long time ago...one fella in the guard of honor collapsed during the national anthem. He was in the front row and everyone started pointing at him. But we could not evacuate the guy during national anthem...and after that came the pledge...sigh..
Heard that guy kena 13 extras...
It was the preview? I remember I did see somebody losing his headdress (although I couldn't remember was it a peak cap or beret)..But it was during the actual NDP (cos my family caught it as well...)Originally posted by Gedanken:Actually, talk about extras, do you remember one guy losing his beret just before the feu-de-joie at the '91 preview? Einstein here's the dummy who knocked the beret off - I caught it with the tip of my bayonet just as I was raising my rifle. Signed seven extras for that, given personally by Encik Gunga himself. The guy whose beret I knocked off is a mate of mine, and all these years later I still haven't lived that one down.
Dunno if it happened with someone else during the actual parade, but for me it was the preview. Thank God - if it'd been the actual parade I would have been a dead man.Originally posted by Drain-V-:It was the preview? doesn't that mean you were that close to slicing open his skull?Originally posted by Gedanken:Actually, talk about extras, do you remember one guy losing his beret just before the feu-de-joie at the '91 preview? Nah, it wasn't that bad. The ranks were just a touch too close together, so what we had to do was bring the rifle butt back a bit when raising the rifle, and then bring it forward once it was fully raised. I brought it forward too early and just lightly caught the beret with the tip of my bayonet, but that was enough to push it off my mate's head.Originally posted by nismoS132:doesn't that mean you were that close to slicing open his skull?![]()

Got another champion, knocked off first row guy's peak cap during NDP 2003 preview when he was doing hormat. But i think he only got scolded, never sign extra.Originally posted by Gedanken:Nah, it wasn't that bad. Okay, so maybe I almost stabbed his head instead of slicing it.
