SAF unarmed combat

hi.. i would like to know how the SAF unarmed combat training is like. what martial arts do they apply? how long is the training? how izit like.. =)

cos the rest of the skills..well ...when involve in actual fight, the opponent wont jus stand swee swee let u execute all the throws they taught. but it was tiring yet fun slamming ppl around thou. -

anyway to respond to the OP's question - the first phase, where you mainly learn how to break fall and do all the throws, grips and locks etc lasts about a week or 1.5 weeks, depending on how fast the PTI conducts. the second phase where you learn how to defend yourself against an armed opponent is only a few days. -

i wonder those that've taken wushu from young, when they go in, can they offer to spar wit the instructor and if they win, not have to take any UC lessons?
my bmt bcct instructor said that if anyone of us could win him in a fight he would let us off

dont know but others, but my training of TKD during sec sch days are almost similiar to unarmed combat.

There is no more Unarmed combat in SAF.It is known as close combat now.It is a mixture of tkd, juitsu and aikido.

To what i know, UC is TKD. Cos the UCI wearing the taekwondo uniform during my time.
Guards Unit were trained in Aikido...thus, i dun know bout now.. -
