NSman Reservist: The SAF Good Service (5Yr) & NS (MR) Medals

may i know under what circumstances and what are the requirements needed for a NSman gets his NSman Medal?
is it all NSman who served for a certain number of years will get it? -

U must served 10 yrs of ICT meaning fully completed your ICT ( total of 10 yrs ) then follow by your next 3 more yrs of BIT. Nope - most of us don't have a no.3 uniform anyway. The medal and watch will have your name and ic no. on the back.Originally posted by Gordonator:does it comes with a service bar that u can wear on your no.3? -
There are 2 medals that you can get when you are a reservist:
SAF Good Service Medal
The SAF Good Service Medal may be awarded to an NSman who has attended at least 3 high-key in-camp training.
SAF National Service Medal
The SAF National Service Medal may be awarded to an NSman who has completed 10 years of operationally ready national service and served a minimum of 5 high-key training and 2 low-key training. -
these medals can be worn on the no.1 right? (if even the occasion arrives)

Not really. But if you ever got charge while in SAF, you'll not get these two medals. I have many friends who kana charged b4 didnt receive them at all. it all depend on your chief clerk.
if the chief clerk is doing his or her job, most will get at least 1, the Good Service Medal. -
looking forward to getting mine in 20 years time.

Hmm..... my friend got an Overseas Service Medal... but he will only be awarded after ORD during National Day...
it's for his part in OPS Flying Eagle. -

BTW, as far as I know, training courses attended during reservist is not counted as ICT. Once attended a 5-week course -- as a result got my good service medal one ICT later than others.
What is the rationale of not counting training courses? Doesn't make sense to me. Longer than ICT. And training course was not switch-off -- course mates include regulars and NSFs, need to do PT runs, field training etc. -
