My opinion, and the general consensus in this thread, is that the OP was merely providing information relevant to the question he submitted - he was not trying to 'haolian'.
If you don't have any salient information to share, then why post? All the more so when what you post are snide remarks.
I've observed these sort of posts coming from you in numerous other threads, and even when you do have information to contribute to the discussion, it seems you still can't help putting down other people's comments at the same time.
So what if you have more experience?
So what if you think you've "been there, done that" - as you obviously do.
This is a public forum, and as long as people post with the intention of contributing to the discussion, I don't see a need to put them down. If they are wrong, at most you can say so tactfully.
Other posters have not made an issue of this, perhaps in deference to your apparent seniority, age-wise and experience-wise. I've kept my peace for quite a long time too, but I feel this has to be said. Age or experience has no bearing on a public forum - there is no reason your age or experience should automatically mean your opinions should be accorded greater weight.
Take for example the thread discussing payscales for CDO vocationalists a month or two back. Despite your never being a commando - correct me if I'm wrong - and your only source of information being a friend who had served in the 90s, IIRC. I had first-hand knowledge, yet you insisted on arguing and making remarks such as "are you sure you're a CDO and not a driver in CDO camp" and "then go ask your S1 why you aren't paid $x" and so on. Then when i posted proof in the form of my electronic payslip from MIW you went all quiet on that thread. Does such behaviour warrant respect and deference?
I didn't post this with the intention of starting a flame war with you and i've made an effort to try to remain objective. I do hope you can answer me in a similar manner. -

rather my beef is that you were treading on "unknown" - as you say yourself - ground and yet you persisted in making snide comments about my info. for THAT i would expect if not an apology, then at least acknowledgment of the fact that you were wrong. i really fail to see how one can conduct oneself in such a manner.
go on and "stand by" your wrong point. go find any currently serving CDO CPL and ask him if he's earning 1k+. perhaps its gone up a little since i ORDed but i'm pretty sure it isn't 1k+.
anyway to go back to my original point - it is obvious we hold ourselves to vastly different moral standards of conduct. i'm guessing i'll never be able to persuade you to have some manners and stop acting like a jerk, generally.
so, since it seems just about everyone else on this forum is content to sit there and take it then i suppose i shouldn't waste any more of my time pursuing this. -

Anyway, I have two classmates who ORDed this year as CDOs, both CPLs, both have their required airborne qualification.And they do not earn 1K.What I do know is that in the past there was something called vocational allowance in addition to rank and hazard allowance+qualification pay.And today it's merely rank pay and combat allowance.Am I right? -

and yeah, you're right - the pay system now - or at least when i ORDed this year - is simply rank + combat allowance. the rank allowance i was drawing as a CPL was 440, plus a combat 'c' allowance (for commandos and divers only afaik) of $300 to give a total of $740 - a far cry from $1k+. remarkable, isn't it, that some people think an entire BN's pay system could be wrong despite first-hand evidence and other supporting evidence proving otherwise. guess certain people just die-die can't admit they're wrong...
btw the only coy to ORD this year so far would be mine - who're your friends? -

I am locking this thread if things do not cool down.The pay argument is irrelevant.MINDEF changed the pay structure to only have two components, Rank Pay and Combat Allowance(subdivided into CDO, NDU and CBRE).
The GOM for this was finalised in 2004. -
