STAR is more dangerous in peacetime, but SOF , if called upon, you have a higher chance of putting your life on the line.Originally posted by specfore:Actually I shared a half-joke with my boss, who was an ex-police NS inspector.
After hearing his exploits, and comparing with my army NS exploits, we both concluded that in peace time, the NS policeman actually faces death or injury threats many more times than the NS army chap. For example, he was involved in an armed robbery many many years ago. And he had to draw his revolver in pursuit. I, in the army, had never drawn my weapon in anger.
Coming back to STAR vs SOF, if you are going to STAR, chances are that you will be called out more often than a SOF trooper. Note that I am talking about frequency and hence probability of being injured or killed in the line of duty. I am not talking about "intensity" of activity which is a different matter. I believe if the SOF trooper is mobilised, he will face a situation that is many more times dangerous to his health than a armed robbery scenario.
what i heard is they are accepting recruits with specs nowadays...Originally posted by wonderamazement:any bespectacled commando?
Hi, I was selected for taking the SOF selection test last time when I'm still in NS, but I chose to drop the idea, I used to be an airborne/diver/Recon Specialist. Yes, you can re-apply SOF after your national service provided it must within two years and before their age limit, which I can't remembered. I still hold the application form till now.Originally posted by yunao:i'm a ex regular logistician ..any1 know whether is it possible for me to apply S.O.F?thx..
