  well, now there's more than just commando wearing the red beret. the crack Special Operation Command, a kind of riot police from the Police Force will also be donning the famous red beret.

  not reali red, maroon....it was plan quite smtime back and will be worn by the guys from PTF if im not wrong....

  if the training is as tough or tougher and the action called upon is of similar intensity then they should deserve to wear it.

  errr.... if im nt wrng it was on the news a few days ago... there was some sort of police parade on tat day then later at night the news progamme showed them marching & the newscaster is going on abt wat special police unit wearing the red beret frm tat day onwards or sumting...

  police wearing the red beret..dun make me laugh man..their training is not way near the rigorous training the cdos go thru..sorry to those in stars or soc..think they should just wear pink berets.

  the gurkha contingent is a so called mercenary force recruited from the nepalese region into service to the republic and its people. They are very loyal to OUR cause. They are under the SOC and not under MINDEF.
  
  But gurkhas due to their superior fitness and toughness ofteh cross train with the army as they are used by the SOC for jungleops.

  They dun understand wat the red beret means, but they still wanna wear it anyway. Fyi, red beret is a universal symbol for airborne troopers. If u read the history of the SAF Commandos, u will know. That's y the SAF Commandos adopt the red beret above any other colours. But, the SOC is not an airborne unit, so they shouldn't be wearing the red beret. It should stay only as the symbol for the SAF Commandos.

  Aiyoh...Malaysia's Army no standard mah..... hahahaha... Anyway I thought their infantry wear green and their rescue unit(similar to SCDF) wear red beret? Dunno which one
