Let them know from day one that it is all about professionalism.Teach them to take pride in their work.Reward them well when they do a good job.Realise and accept that their mentality will always be different and boosting their morale and sense of ownership in their job is better than punishing them for the smallest mistake.Originally posted by kopiosatu:Got a bunch of NSFs today. "can be friend friend but you gotta understand that they are NSFs and they have the mentality that they are just here to serve and f**k off, so you have to be more strict towards them and watch how they work, because you will be signing for the job they've done which means any mistake, you are responsible"
I for one am not keen on NSFs posting to my unit.
I don't think I can even bring myself to being strict except when it comes to actual work. And I can't trust NSFs considering that I was a NSF myself AND I see the mentality of NSFs in the other NSF squadrons.
How to handle them so they won't step all over me? I'm not rank conscious at all and I think most of the people at my unit are not. We've never had NSFs and I guess this will be a culture shock not only for them but for us too.
Agree with Zooish's analysis.... btw what unit are u from??? It also has to take into account of the unit's culture...Originally posted by Zooish:The way i see it, NSFs are divided into JC group, and the Poly, ITE, Mono-intake group.
For JC group, u have to stamp authority. U can try and befriend them, but they will be quick to exploit that frenship. In the end you'll still have to use yur rank.
For the other grp, u have to win their respect, gain their frenship. Once you guys become close, they will be very loyal towards u, and will unlikely screw u over.
Of course, this is a general observation, and as with everything in life, there will be exceptions![]()
