Originally posted by Justificated:Hi everyone, i juz wanna clarify about something. I juz got a silver at toa payoh stadium for my napfa on june 3rd. my enlistment is on the 10 sep, ptp batch. How can i apply for the enhancement batch? Izzit they will automatically send another letter here to let mi join the oct batch or i muz go down to cmpb to defer? And also if the oct batch is full, i muz as well join the sep batch because the next batch is january batch. such a long wait. How may i do all these. Someone enlighten mi pls!
Hi bro.. You can try calling CMPB to enquire about this.. and inform them that you got a silver for napfa (IPPT in army terms). They should be able to assist you on this.
Mine was different case.. I did my medical checkup late, cuz never receive notification letter from CMPB.. I was initially assigned to the SEP intake.. But CMPB called me and asked me to enlist early.. I was like !@#$%^&*
End up i accept the offer and landed in a shiong company. I was classified Mild Obese at CMPB, but they sent me to a normal batch.. That's why my platoon mates hate me...
Hahaha
Can parents bring along thier camera phone on the day of enlistment?

yes they can.
Originally posted by p228:Not really.. You will find out on the day itself...
Hahaha.. If you happen to go into M company, good luck.
They have a history of being the most "shiong" company in School 2.
Btw, I was from M company platoon 4, enlisted 06/2005.
It has a nice scenery.. can look at the sea, can see Mainland, and that's the most painful part..
Will miss home and loved ones.
My bunk mate every night sit at the window looking at the BMTC Parade Square (in between Cookhouse 1 and 2) thinking of home..
P/S: If you didnt know, which platoon you go to depends on the year of birth of your company mates. Those born earlier will go into Platoon 1, then 2, then 3, then lastly 4. So, you can say that those in platoon 4 (top floor) are usually the youngest recruits among the whole company.
Pegasus platoon 4 is another platoon where u can see a sceneric view of the sea. lol.
and i can say that people who get into pegasus is lucky. heh. "white horse" company literally, thats why got welfare treatment lol.

What stroke do you know? Isn't breast stroke the most common style most people learn?
If you already know how to swim, go online and u should be able to find websites etc teaching you the actions etc with pictures since i can't really descibe it to you. If you know how to swim, you should not drown trying.
If you do not know how to swim, go find a swimming instructor.
Being unable to swim in NS is no real big deal. You just have to attend extra swimming sessions which is more teaching you how to float and survive in water than really swimming though.

Is it possible to learn without instructors? Like I watch videos and go to swimming pool and try out?

If you already know how to swim, it should be possible. If you can't swim at all, thats too dangerous
Hi there. x.x i have a question to ask.
My enlistment date will be this friday. PTP is 4 weeks right? >< After PTP weeks, BMT will be held the subsequent/following week straight? Or is there a gap in between before BMT? X.X
Hope to hear from anyone soon. =”)
no gaps. you'll be more of a lao jiao to those BMT enlistees once they come in. There will definitely be some cliques for the first few weeks...
ooo then during this period... is it possible to apply... like... 2 different day leave? XD like... got exam (A lvl Mother Tongue listening/oral) for that 2 particular day? x.x or half day each for the 2 days to make it for the examination? ="[

Talk to your PC, sometimes they will grant u half day leave for exams etc
Thanks dkcx. =] I believe the chance is extremely slim though.. T_T Have to see if i have a lenient PC or a stricter one. But really hope i can be grant just half day for that 2 particular days of examination... =") Would be sufficient enough.*sigh* =[

I know some exams they auto must let u out but u msut tell me early and not last minute tml exam u today then say.
You will have a PC interview within 48hrs of your enlistment. Talk to your PC and tell him you have exams on those days. Bring in any official documents to prove the dates and times and its quite likely your PC will grant you half day off to go for your exams.
REALLY??? THANKS A LOT!! OMG *hug* XD
the examination is at July 23 (Listening compre) and 1 of the day btw July 7-20 (i'm not sure yet, cos havent receive the latest date for oral yet.)
so, i should inform the PC at the day of enlistment itself or sending the ns portal an email regarding this? x"D sorry to disturb you a lot. >< *pat*

No problem. We post here to answer people's questions anyway.
Just tell your PC. Email ns portal not much use cos those mails get lost easily when they forward here and there. Its your PC that can grant your leave so if he says ok, you should have no problems going for your exams. Just ask politely and i doubt he would give you a hard time.
Got it =D Thanks for the advice. =) yay! ^-^

Good luck for your BMT then and do report back whether your request is granted so we can give any future recruits a more confirm answer but i would say the chance of getting half day leave is very high since its for an official reason. :)
