Does Warrant Officer Carry Ceremonial Sword?

  Dear all,
  
  Just curious. If yes, is it the same as commission officer. Or do they carry other stuff. Cause I saw last year NDP, the parade RSM was carrying something hanging on the side.

  Hmm...I am sure it doesn't look like a stick though. If I remembered correctly, it had a crest on top. Well, I could be wrong. Can anyone shed some light on this?

  The sword is not "theirs", so as to speak. A ceremonial sword is worn by appointment holders as a symbol of authority and protection.
  
  The only time a Parade RSM will draw his sword is during the Trooping of the Colours.

  to clarify your doubt. warrant officers do not have ceremonial swords, not even pacestick unless they are a CSM or RSM.

  Parade Sergeant Majors are allowed to carry swords for NDP.

  Those holding CSM appointments will carry a Black pacestick
  while the RSM will get his brown pacestick .. they will also get a sword to use for trooping the colors ...

  The pacestick and the RSM drawing his sword are both based on British Army traditions.
