What are the things that can be improve in the SAF?

Tons of them, can never be done as there are too many cover ups here and there. One of them is the cookhouse food, it really sucks at times

management of time. make full use of the time, miminise the time wasted in between training and exercise waiting for this waiting for that. we must learn to plan our time well so that everything can be done in the shortest number of time so that the man can get enough rest or do some other meangingful things.

And no, i do not accept the argument that 'in the old days, we had bee hoon that was as hard as metal wires yadda yadda yadda...etc.'. SFI is being paid to provide a service, and we have every right to complain if they are not doing their jobs well. -
Their ussage of the men. Can see that MOST of the more high rank personnel are literally doing nothing but throwing rank nia. Only waiting for 10th every month. Wasting of taxpayer money and also a waste of manpower. -
The biggest things to improve in the SAF is it administrative processes.
From experience - I had to update my personal particulars every in camp training - despite updating them the previous year. There are many more examples of administrative problems. Those who served should know.
Overall, the SAF has improved alot since I did my NS. Its all welfare now. -

Abolish the officer's mess. specialist mess system...just have one common mess.....like the Israeli armed Forces.....then u have more people interaction

The scholars r just another bunch of naoless(brainless) creatures....only care about when will they get promoted on time....when they leave armed forces....will they be in the parliament...or some GIC companies to be their director or CEO....they only treat SAF as their playground

emphasize the impotance of responsibilities. take for example the range which i went for the past 2 days.
first day. tonner failed to arrive on time. call up the MT line and found out that the driver attached to us took MC and nothing is done to find a replacement driver. call up the MT line can realise the lines are not answered. in the end we have to walk all the way to MT line and use the previous duty driver to drive us to range.
ends up we are late but luckily, the range is not delayed because of us. i don't know whether the driver attached to us really is sick or is just malingering (which probably is).
if he is attached to us, he should be responsible and show up on time, if really need to take MC, at least call up and arranged for a new driver.
second day. armoury storeman fails to turn up on time eventhough he promised us he will be there on time to issue arms. handphone also cannot contact him. turns out he's sleeping in his bunk.
so as u can see from the above 2 cases. it is very important to be responsible, if u promise someone u will be there on time, please do so. if not at least make arrangement to find replacement and inform the party. important training can be delay because of this. -
ah shut up la.. compared to my SCDF camp, ur food rules. we still hv cooks cooking rubbish for us ok. I think SAF can be improved by having less cover ups. When I sent my friend off, the warrent officer said all the companies have gyms.. but i was told differently by a friend who just POPed. -
Three to four companies share a gym at Tekong. For my BMT coy, we were lucky cuz we had a lecture theatre which we shared with the neighbouring company. The other companies had to conduct lectures in training sheds :p
anyway, i do agree that the time spent on waiting can be cut down. i had once waited for 1 hour for a lesson to start. :s waiting for 1 hour for a VIP to arrive (e.g. CO) is fine as long as there is someone (e.g. instructors) to interact with while waiting (think this is the SOP?), but for lessons, we can just fall in about 10-20 minutes before lesson start and proceed. the other times can be better spent resting in bunk or non-official admin time.
imo i feel that i'm somewhat detached from the outside world since i enlisted, partly because of the lack of newspapers being supplied to my training unit. Back at tekong there will be daily supplies of TODAY newspaper. In the present world it's important for everyone to be informed of current affairs hence newspapers can be supplied to everyone, not only to the specs n officers.. -

dinner $6.00.
i agree with you that they should give us the money instead.
they give the SFI so much money but we end up eating recycle foods. -
the food at the my cookhouse is ok, edible as compared to the old days whereby there are still combat chefs. only complain is that the soup is always too salty and the night snacks cakes and buns are always 1 day due to expire.
