The rank an officer wear is just a symbol that indicate he/she went through OCS, nothing more. It is what his/her appropriate and impartial action and treatment of the soldiers under their command coupled with sound judgement that will win over their respect and persuade them to undertake risks at the possibility of losing their lives during ops.
From what you said, I seriously think you are not suitable for command. Officers are not the only ones that use brains, WOSEs also used their brains, so as to cover up for whatever FUCK ups an officer of your calibre might cause in order to ensure everything is not going the way of FUBAR (FUCK UP BEYOND ALL RECOGNITION). -

Another thing I feel is that officer should try working together with the men for the 1st few times then he will get the feel of the ground work...so when the top ask him questions....he will know the actual situation n know how to answer correctly to the top w/o giving unrealistic target which will make the men suffer...

i have a friend that gone to OCS after he got post to my unit. (i think cock up in the S1 or what) he knows what the man go through and also see quite a lot of f**k officers before he go for OCS. before that i told him to be a good officer and not like those in my unit.
10 month later, i got invited by him to his commissioning parade and he is the parade commander and also gotten his sword of honour. he is still very good to us like before. not like some people who like to use rank. a nice guy but too bad did not come to my unit. -
Most officers are those who think they are much cleverer than the bo-tak-chey men.
They think they should be exempted from all kinds of discipline and fatigue duties.
But let me tell all of you that most of them only know how to talk and not do things that are productive.
I, as an A-level holder, don't think that being cleverer than many people, makes me a better person.
It's how you treat others with respect that differentiates you from the others!
SO OFFICERS, DUN THINK THAT YOUR BRAINS ARE THAT IMPORTANT!!

I agree with you that you are officers for a reason and I am pretty sure it is not for the right reason. It has nothing to do with whatever education level he/she has. Hope he wun get fragticide by his men when he goes to battle with his men...a very common thing happen during Vietnam War where the men killed their officer during battle by tossing a grenade towards their officer during battle knowing that this officer will bring their men to thier death or make unresonable demand.....good luck to u mathew
