was the recruit charged? Why shoot at the face... should be at the *ahem*Originally posted by specfore:No , I don't think the blanks will kill. During my NSF days, one of my recruits fired a blank 5.56 round accidentally into a fellow recruit's face, from 6 inches away ! Result, there was some superficial burns, and the chap was a little deaf in one ear for a few days (ringing sound !). Otherwise recovered.
However, if the blast hit the eyes, it could be a different story, semi- blindness could result.
Let's face it, no matter how loudly or aggresively you shout, using Universal Rounds will always be weird.Originally posted by tankee1981:Yeah,saying bang bang really like kids playing soldier! Very funny looking at grown-ups carrying real weapons charging up a knoll and shouting bang bang!![]()
The only "witnesses" to the blank shooting were myself , the PL Sgt and the CSM. It was just pure carelessness. Also, the section commander was partly to blame, he was supposed to check the chambers of the rifles when the company was RTU, after field exercise.Originally posted by sgboy2004:was the recruit charged? The CSM and myself decided to hush the incident. The recruit who fired was confined for the weekend in barracks (no book-out). If there was an officer around, he would have gone straight to the OC for charges. The section commander would also have got something.
The recruit was lucky. In OCS or SISPEC, if you were found with blank rounds , let alone discharging them in barracks, you were likely to get a minimum of 5 days RP. With a black mark against you for the remainder of the course...
why did tt farker do tt to ur mate? guardsman vs cdo?Originally posted by Gedanken:No, it won't kill, but it sure will sting. In my very first BTEC, one of our guys had a chunk of skin taken out of his shoulder when a Guardsman pressed the muzzle right up against him and fired. My mate dragged the Guardsman all the way down to the bottom of the knoll they were on, kicked the crap out of him, then went to find a medic. It wasn't a severe injury, but it was bleeding pretty profusely.
