Field pioneers.U get to play with mines and bombs...Originally posted by Prestroz:Just asking for my friend... He's also posted to 30 SCE on 9th Sep for his PTP+BMT... He graduated from ITE with Higher Nitec...
I need to know what kind of engineer would he probably become? Bridging engineer? Field engineer? or would he get the chance to be trained in a more specialised field like CBRE, EOD or bomb disposal??
Also, what are the chances for him to be posted out??![]()
in 30SCE u will become a plant engineer or field engineer.Originally posted by Prestroz:Just asking for my friend... He's also posted to 30 SCE on 9th Sep for his PTP+BMT... He graduated from ITE with Higher Nitec...

did u highlight this to the MO when u go for yor medical check-up at CMPB?Originally posted by vulpes macrotis mutica:heh ... i find it strange though:
my knees has outstanding injury with an open appointment for surgery. some endoscope thing. sports injury 5 years back and is still giving me problems now. broke my palm 5 years back, and broke my foot 3 years back.
And yet somehow I still got PES B?
I'm wondering if it's not too late to get a specialist report, which I should have done earlier, for my knees and my possibilities of getting a downgrade.
Any advice?
What about graduate from ITE nitec ? Also become plant engineer or field engineer ? How do they choose who go to plant and who go to field ? Just ti-kum ar ?Originally posted by Gordonator:in 30SCE u will become a plant engineer or field engineer.
as a plant operator, u will learn to operate vehicles like tractors, excavator, shovel, forklift and dozers like those u see at construction sites to support enginner operations.
it's a good life lah, no need to chiong suah, u move around in your vehicle and dig with your vehicle, as compared to field engineers they must run here run there dig by themselves.
in 30SCE u won't be trained in other fields like what u mentioned above as they belong to other engineers' units. if u are interested they are,
30SCEplant engineers/field engineers
35SCEbrifging engineers/amphibious engineers
36SCEEOD engineers
39SCECBRE engineers
u might still be able to be posted out, for instance u fail IPPT. but i recommend staying on, cos all your friends are there.![]()
Yeah, highlighted it when I went to CMPB last September for my check-up. Even showed the MO 16 pieces of X-rays I've taken over my short course of life. Then on Feb earlier this year, got a letter to report to Pasir Ris camp. Then did the interview and the MO asked if I have medical conditions, I highlighted my knee problems too.Originally posted by Gordonator:did u highlight this to the MO when u go for yor medical check-up at CMPB?
if your injuries is still giving u problems, i suggest u go see a specialist and get a specialist report. but if possible, i suggest u go through BMT first, cos even if u downgrade, u will still need to go through PES C BMT. might as well go through BMT now, save your time and at the same time see whether u can handle the training or not. if really cannot take it, u can always refer the specialist report to the MO.
good luck.![]()

Anyway, I heard from a clerk @ CMPB that if I haven't enter NS 1 year after a medical check-up, I'd have to go through it again before I get enlisted, is that true?
u mean like missing your enlistment date? i'm sorry but i'm don't know.Originally posted by vulpes macrotis mutica:Anyway, I heard from a clerk @ CMPB that if I haven't enter NS 1 year after a medical check-up, I'd have to go through it again before I get enlisted, is that true?
Yup, read a lot on the forums about it. Was like dead sure I was gonna get into commandos after reading all the posts, not that I mind though. Too bad I didn't get inOriginally posted by Gordonator:Pasir Ris camp? commando!
As in, for example if I took my medical check-up on May 2004, and a year later after May 2005, if I'm not enlisted yet, I'll have to take another medical checkup again before getting enlisted.Originally posted by Gordonator:u mean like missing your enlistment date? i'm sorry but i'm don't know.
