  No such thing. As hmsg said, rank applies regardless of unit.
  
  Then again, there was this one guy whose daddy pulled him out out of my BMT platoon because he couldn't hack it. We didn't bother to salute him when we saw that he became an Engineer PC. Hell, he got busy observing the ground when we passed by.

  Saluting is a mark of a respect for any soldier.
  
  Any man who served selflessly deserves my salute at least.
  
  The hand gesture is just an appreciation for the service of my land and the ground i stand on. For those who did not earn any of my respect , most of his agendas involve his own personal welfare over the work of men below him.
  
  People who pushes jobs and makes stupid excuses to push jobs dont deserve any of my respect let alone a gesture.
  
  Reservists mostly salute at command in stupid parades. Involving visit by so and so minister etc craps.

  well, while CDOs are required to salute officers just like everyone else, the unit culture is quite informal, for the most part.

  The culture of one formation (e.g. the CDOs) does not equate tat others are following suite. Hence uniformity should prevails; and the whole issue of being tune into the state is paramount.

  This is unit culture....but as for CDO, u still need to salute a officer if needed. No special previlege is suppose to be given to CDO

  i only salute officers above the rank of MAJ. for CPT, i'll be more selective, cos many CPTs i saluted in the past don't even know how to salute back, i'm talking about those CPT(DR)s, lots of them in my camp.

  i always believed that the ultimate salute is the one that is done in the heart
  
  in NS, i differentiate this by either i snap my salute or just take it soft and easy with the hand movement
  
  and for the record, i snap salute all those who had to cock their weapons and protect the compound housing Spore civilians in East Timor while a riot broken out

  nobody salutes a small fry officer. usually we salute officers higher than co in 46SAR.
