Singaporean NS

  I have a friend who is a Singapore PR (Malaysian citizen) who just enlisted for NS and he is a PES E clerk.
  
  He told me that he will not be automatically converted to Singapore citizen after serving NS but he can apply to it. My advice to him is that since he spent most of his life in Singapore and he had served his NS, he should go and apply for pink IC. So I would like to know provided that he did not AWOL, enter DB or committ any major offences in NS, whether it is easier for him to get his pink IC after he served his NS? Will the vocation (clerk) affect his chances of getting his pink IC?

  Nope. As long as a PRR has completed his NS regardless of voccation, he would get his pink IC... As for DB or sort, I dun really know much abt this

  nope. your vocation won't affect your chances of applying for citizenship.
  
  but things like criminal records, be it before NS or during NS will play a factor too.

  Nope, at the end of his service, SAF will give ur friend a choice.
  1.) To take up accelerated citizenship. (A normal person who does not serve NS will take sometime, as well as the chances when applying for citiizenship. However in army, this is accelerated, so hence accelerated citizenship.
  
  2.) Or Decline the offer.
  
  If he choose to decline the offer now. Later on when he wish to take up again, it will be based on his merit liao. No more accelerated citizenship even though he serve NS before. However, NS will be take into account. The wait and chances is the same as those who did not serve NS.
  
  So make sure ur friend think carefully.
