Disagree bout what? You mean abt signing on leads to mediocrity? I wouldn't say i disagree, nor agree. I think it has it's own pros and cons lah. For example, there are those who sign on for the money, and those who sign on because they really like it. So i think it really depends.
For me, i was stuck between signing on and working in the pte sector. I wanted both (finance is my passion, military i have interest), but of course that is impossible. So i did the best thing i could do, seek the advice of my loved ones. My mum worries abt the risks that comes with the army, my dad hopes for me to take over his business, my sister and gf worry the same as my mum. But they still said if i wanted to sign on they will support me. In the end, i didn't want everyone to be unhappy or worried because of me. So i decided not to sign on. Yeah so in the end, i'm gonna pursuing my passion, finance.
As for the career advancement, depends on individual also. There are the high-flyers, and there are the ppl who get stuck at the same position. But again, there are also ppl who are happy with what they have and do not want the added responsibilities that come with promotions.
I think there are many kinds of ppl out there. So you really shouldn't put them down like that.
No hard feelings eh?
