We should have wild boars in our Forests if there are any of them ... They so poor thing. Everything have its place in nature , it would be best to keep them so . They should remind the soldiers that they are not alone .

wild boar was once sighted by BMTC Bravo company at the SOC ground opposite their company. never knew the wild boars of tekong were that garang.

another interesting thing is monkeys in SISPEC!
used to be able to c monkeys beside the road when running ET runs
but wat really surprised me was my graduation day, the monkeys actually dared to come into the open n they were at the mini parade square! (in front of the lecture theatres)

Now they scared of viruses...bird flu, foot and mouth...cull everything in sight. The waters around Tekong used to be good for fishing

Talking about good fishing, yeah, i suppose so, you guys know dongra bridge ? the one going over the reclaimed land ? if you look down the bridge at low tide you'll see monster sized mud crabs scuttling around on the mud, and sometimes you'll see monster seabass (gim buk lor) almost up to a metre long chasing after baitfishes in the water there ... and anyone seen the fist sized cockles that can be found on some of the shore area over there ? .... i suppose it's because tekong is a restricted island, so there's not much pressure on the wildlife .... i remember the Singaporean yao gui in me dreaming of chili crabs the first time i saw those huge critters on the mud ......

then got 2 officers n 1 spec went to the jetty to fish
n they got a lot of fish..
all quite big sized 1...
sea-bass included!
i'm damn tempted to go fish there... -
btw, hope you're not arachnophobic .... tekong jungle, and all singapore jungles for that matter, have loads of spiders, they are everywhere .... because of habitat degradation there aren't many native birds around, no bird predators to eat up the insects, so spiders move into that biological niche ..... loads of spiders around .... keep your eyes open, you don't want to walk face first into one of those huge wolfman spider's webs ......

don't know about spiders cos i never seen anyway. but just take a look at that gaint ant nest i encountered during field camp. the scary part is our harbour area is so near it, we were like sleeping a few metres away from it.

Mangrove Swamp also damn smelly, because of that, I improve my 2.4 timing everytime run past there.
Oh~ interesting things about Tekong. There's this place called the 7 knoll near old malay sch, very nice place. Like...telly tubby land
There's a nice beach, river crossing area at the end of Reclaim land and FCS 1.
Yes, there's a Hotspring in the north, got wooden planks, but also quite smelly.
There's a darn nice reserviour.

Tekong is one the last places in Singapore where our nature is still left alone.We should not cull and chop unneccesarily.
I remember one tank training range in Southern Cali has a turtle protection act, and troops are obliged to move these shelled-creatures out of the way before exercises can commence. -

I will never forget the first time i saw her...knn was having lunch at the cookhouse...suddenly this sultry voice says "boy, is the lunch good...?" saw her bending over the table showing all the guys her cleavage, i nearly spat out my soup. We all just mumbled sheepishly and smiled. She smiled and walked away, showing us her whole ass with a black g-string in the middle. (she was wearing a sheer black skirt). Whoa lan eh......
