wow...thats bad man...But this also teaches the trainees one thing, as long as u are in SAF..U are never safe from anything...Originally posted by zanshin:drove my FH2000 too fast(it was starting to rain) and estimate the height wrongly, therefore smashing the tow-hook of the 7 tonner with a big bang, but minimal damage.
the above incident happen right infront of the RSM which was lecturing a whole battlion on new trainee-gunners.
The worst thing : just before the lecture, he asked me to park another gun infront of the trainees and told the trainees this "you people see that gunfitter, he one of the most steady technician in our unit, anything about the gun you can ask him also"
Imagine a 7-Ton Mann truck going too fast and banging into the M71 155 gun in front. Damaged the pneumatic rammer of the gun (I was told damage cost 10k).Originally posted by zanshin:drove my FH2000 too fast(it was starting to rain) and estimate the height wrongly, therefore smashing the tow-hook of the 7 tonner with a big bang, but minimal damage.

1. You mean they store 155 rounds in crates of 6 now? You sure? It used to be that 155 rounds are palleted, standing upright 16 (I think) to a pallet.Originally posted by IcedLemon:my buddy rammed down two crates of 155mm round on board the navy LST tank deck. imagine 12 * 155mm round rolling on the ground, everyone running like hell. luckily without firing pin

either 6 or 8 n i not sure tat is crates or pallet. standing upright, only top n bottom secured. as for how will the round go off, dunno.....i not ammo tech trainedOriginally posted by dragonstar:1. 2. 155 rounds don't have or require firing pins. What you mean is that they are not fuzed (or fused - take your pick).
3. You imply that without fuze, the 155 rounds won't detonate - wrong. Explosive can go off by sympathetic detonation. However, you are correct that unfuzed rounds are quite safe to handle.
