Why do some ndu/cdo look down on other units arh?

  yea..divers haf a large sense of pride in them..even myself..though only a diver trainee..has alot of pride in my vocation..but then..most of us in the unit dun look down on other units..simply beacuse we specialised in different areas..i guess it's a minority of them who thinks they are real good..

  Those guys are bascially suffering from some inferior complex lar...haiz...As far as I know the CDO and NDU peeps that I noe are nice ppl, that includes my RSM and CSM. However there are still some who really are snobs (incl CDO Officers) haiz...failure in life.

  in the navy camp and job roles, the divers are the most respected. whatever they ask for their mission, the support will come. because the mission they carried out is only they are allowed to do it.
  
  they do the most dangerous. clearing and checking under the ship hull in south china sea for worthiness is part of ther job, it is no easy job. whenever such a job is carried out, every crew from officers to seaman is alert to their undersea work with emphasi on their safety.
  
  their safety cannot be compromise.
  
  other than combat roles. in camp, the NDU warrant in charge is always respected even he walks around in his NDU T shirt and shorts.

  i respect you for being a diver. treasure your training, its a life saver when you do your real duty.
  
  during my NS days donkey years, i have seen divers do the jobs for navy other than combat duties, anything under the sea, you will be called first to survey and do repair work. evrytime a diver goes under, the above crew paid extreme attention to all details and movement above.

  It happens on all levels of society. In school the NCC will look down on the NPCC, who looks down on the Red Cross, the Scouts etc. In adult life the BMW driver looks down on the Toyota driver etc.
  
  In the army, the training has to make you believe you are better than others, tougher, meaner. faster, deadlier etc. It's all part of the myth of soldiering. In order to succeed against impossible odds you have to first believe that you can. Best summed up in the English Special Air Service motto "Who Dares Win". If you believe you can - you can.
  
  The uniform, the habit-forming training, the weapons, the marching songs etc all must increase bravado and the esprit de corps.
  
  Some units like Guards and CDO's have stronger enforcement of this spirit than others. And the result of this indoctrination into your esprit de corps is to feel and act like you are better than everyone else.
  
  Some people take the indoctrination very seriously, some less. Those who take it very seriously like a religion are usually people whom had weak characters before NS. They were like empty shells. Suddenly the army gave them an identity. During my BMT my unfortunate platoon had 2 instructors from the now defunct "SAF Boys' School". One of them was 17 years old.
  
  These guys were like "Hitler Youth", mostly hopeless cases and they signed up at 16 or something. So by the time they had got their Ranger tabs and old enough to become instructors, they were animals. But when I met one of them years later, the army had kicked them out, and they gone back to being the empty shells they were.

  I am still a student struggling in my studies, and this cousin of mine like to "bully me" , saying stuffs like i am destined to be a "dog" in army.
  
  He always like to action a lot. Example like when he was helping my parents to do some stuffs, he would say "aiya no problem one lor, i from commando, eat more tough than u all liao loh"
  
  I always heard about the army is all about a big team working together to defend the country, each and everyone depends on each other to succeed.But got this type of people and blacksheeps, really very disheartening leh.
  
  got airborne and ranger badge really make one better n good meh

  when u join the army...everyday u will say FARK THE ARMY!

  He look down on other Units!!!If there is no technician in the army may i know who is going to be the one who repair guns for him!!!He even look down on civilians,doesn't he realise that police force,navy,saf,air force as well as civil defence are all clivil servants LOL
