Does Singapore Army have Pointmen

Usually from what i read from books, they will lead the platoon with a shotgun from what i see usually remington r870.Does SAF have a same system?

Your question's double-barrelled (pardon the pun) - are you talking about sending someone out in front, or are you talking about sending someone out in front with a shotgun?

Read from books, they are the "ears" and the "eyes" of the platoon and will usually stand infront with a shotgun(This is LIKE without fail) Lead the platoon or something..

Point men, yes. Shotguns, not as far as I know.

In any case, I don't think that point men carry shotguns without fail. You don't strictly need a shotgun to do the job although in that first moment of ocntact, when you only know the general direction of the enemy, the shotgun may be handy for returning fire.

Hmmmz,perhaps the M16 or M14 with an underslung shotgun would be useful? Read that the SAS uses a pointman/scout who is armed with an M203 to0.

No, SAF infantry doesn't appoint pointmen with specific weopons. Heck, there isn't even an full time pointment. It's usually rotated with whichever section is in the lead.
It's supposed to be formalized, believe they teach a certain formation as to which weopon is supposed to be infront in a 2 up, line formation, etc. But in practice... seldom happens. -
pointman with shotgun is for urban fighting.. shotgun have a powerful blast in close range.. but not at long range.. thats why normally SAF platoon could only carry light weighted machine gun..

Pointman is a nick given to anyone who is ask to take the lead. Usually in the section everyone take turn to do it. But sometime for some cases there is nutcase that love the rush of excitment and volunteer for it, as it is a dangerous role, others may just let him have it.
As for shotgun, that is america war, you can bring and use any damn gun you get your hands on. Shotgun is use by some as in train hands they can shoot out a wall of pellets to take out people fast , if not M16 on auto will do .
