i need advice.

as is known, i'm from 41, and we're going wallaby for atec, my flight is on 31st oct, will only be returning on 24th november.
i have a japanese language exam on 4th dec, i need to pass this exam before i can be admitted in to a japanese college next year. i've already flown there last month to make the arrangements, this is the final step. but this is not an easy exam, it is split into 4 levels, lowest being 4, highest being 1. the college requires a level 2. it's similar to the TOEFL the chinese students have to take in singapore.
i have gotten my level 4 last year, and am attempting my level 2 this year, i've only started studying the language last september, usually you need to have had studied 3-4 years before taking the level 2 exam. at this point, i'm already struggling to keep up with classes. there'll be a prepartory course for the exams during november which i need to attend.
i've spoken with the S4, and have already told him that if i miss this, there is a high chance that my life will be delayed by an entire year, i'm already 24 this year. by the time i graduate, i'll be 27 going 28. but he says that as an NSF, my priority is to the unit. but i cannot justify foregoing 1 entire year of my life, for a bloody 4 week wayang show.
i seriously need advice on how i can skip this mission. i will put it simply this way, if i can't find a way out, the day before the flight, i will get myself into a traffic accident. i will willingly break some bones just to pass this exam. -

I need to know who grant you the permission to take up this course in the first place since you are serving full time NS.

we are allowed to take lessons at night. mine are on weekends.
i'm not combat personnel. -

I strongly advice against all extreme measures until you have gone through all proper procedure
First, you need to know that ATEC is very important to a unit and granting of leave or off are extremely rare during this period.
Since you have already approached your S4, I reckon that it is not approved, still talk to your manpower officer (S1) as he is in a better position to deploy manpower and see whether you are really needed or not. Of course, you must provide prove that you indeed have an exam prepartory course during that period.
Let say if you are really needed, ask whether you can then be assign to a low key position to mann so at least you have time for your studies over there at wallaby.

firstly is it worth it? but more importantly, you may be accused of malignering (now that your S4 knows about it), and in the worst case, end up in DB. -
best is ask ur MP to write a letter.... some S4 dun even need to see the letter.. u just tell them if they give u no choice u can only go talk to ur MP lor... it's ur future, ask them if they will feed u if u dun have a good future....but anyway.. JLPT can skip level one meh?? u said last yr level 4 then this yr 2 already?

-brunei don't have NSF and much less an invading force , but it's oil resources is still there leh.
-telling us that singapore is israel in SEA and create a mock sense of urgency for defense.

Red Baron didn't go for overseas exercises , but he still manage to destroy alot of fighter pilots.
German major Erich Hartmann shot down 352 allied fighter planes during WWII , but he also never go for overseas exercise.

all i know is that if you have a willing soldier to do his stuffs , will be more motivated then a soldier who is forced to prioritise his unit above his own interests. -

It's just whether the S4 wants to really do his job or just punch his ticket like any lackadaisical regular who fails to think out of the box.Better to give this NSF a memory of an Army that cares and he might gain a more motivated reservist rather than force his own view and perhaps "gain" in the short term by having one more man in ATEC but losing one motivated unit tech.
Have you tried talking to your S3 and S1? -
Go through the chain of command. Speak to CO. If he dun approved, look for MP to help.

The absense of a single NS man isn't going to change anything.
Can't they have a policy whereby , when the guy misses the exercise ,
He will join another unit for other exercises to do a makeup/remedial exercise?
(i know this is not my lao pei's army , so cannot anyhow do things)
don't blame me for being blunt , but i just feel that alot of things are inflexible in this army.
The S4 should also have considered his case more thoroughly before throwing his case out like this.
People do have a passion for their own interests .
As long as he manages to do his 2 years in the end , why restrict him? -

i assume you are under S4 branch since this kind of problem you don't go S4.
Anyway, just to let you know there are directives on NSFs take nights off to go for classes. One of the conditions is that you going night classes does not affect the operational requirements of SAF.
While i am not exactly sure what you role will be in Wallaby, I am very sure as a non-combatant (therefore, non-estab personnel unless you are CQ, etc) you could be forgone in Wallaby.
I really believe that the decisions of this kind is made by CO level already. So if S4 does not help you by asking CO for you, I seriously thing you should talk to CO. I am assuming you are HQ personnel.
Honestly and "legally" speaking, you do not have the right to excuse yourself for your studies because of the nature of the course does not fall into the categories as spelt out by SAF.
In any case, SAF is gonna ask you to take leave for the period they are in Wallaby and you in singapore studying.
Perhaps you should try asking the school if they could have a special waiver or arrangement for you given the circumstances. -
the s4 has said he also can't let me go because of lack of manpower, but i have clarified this with my IC, we are having regulars coming in from 6d and 4sab, and one from 6d is able to get me a substitute.
we will be going to s1 and co directly if s4 still doesn't relent.
