nope gord, that was good, really .... read my own posts ..Originally posted by Gordonator:sarcasm intended?
people who are self fish, self centred, who think only about themselves, afraid to come out of their comfort zone and unable to take setbacks in life are usually the ones who thinks NS is a joke or a waste of time.I think I made a similar post somewhere on cc...i am not good with words and will probably get flamed here but i think everyone should voice their opinions on things.
it's all boils down to your mindset and maturity it's not a waste of time if u don't think of it as a waste of time or even a joke. why not think of it as doing something meaningful? it's your duty afterall as citizen to go through this phase in life. millions of people have gone through it, why can't u? what make u so special?
come on, 2 years of NS is nothing, it'll go by in a brink of an eye. even less if u minus all the leave, off, MC, public holidays etc. now we even got the 5 days working week system, what more can u ask for? the NSFs in the past don't even get to enjoy this privilege.
hmm relax dude, realise that working and conscription is 2 different matter. at the very least the job you work as, you chose it to an extent and there is also motivation to do well.Originally posted by Fatum:i never said being an officer or a spec confers upon you a certain work ethic, infact, for officers especially, that's very often a reflection of your results only (c'mon, you know it, I know it, we all see it .... )
but everyone who've worn no.4 should know, there are always those pricks who try to get out of everything and anything. what i'm trying to say is you don't have to be so garang and collect as many stripes or bars as you can, but do what you have to do and don't shrink from it ... sometimes it's bloody ridiculous, have you seen leg injuries downgrades going for atheletics ? ... now it's not a case of I suffer so i want others to suffer the same as me ... i've served my time, did what i have to do and ORD liao, but thinking back to a few characters back then still pisses me off ..... they are certainly people whom i'll never employ, no matter how qualified, because i know they will always be looking for an easy way out ... and never put in a hundred percent.
hmm if not coming back might as well dun serve?Originally posted by vulpes macrotis mutica:i'm also entering NS in two weeks time, or 12 days to be exact :p ...
it's all fun and games and adventure, for king and country.
after that i'm moving overseas and never coming back![]()
BMTC do not groom commanders instead they groom soldiers.Originally posted by Ponders:Especially in BMTC, are we not supposed to groom future commanders? ANd yet commanders are chosen by the very people who do not perform?
So non-performers are trying to groom recruits to perform??
.
I suggest ladies should be conscripted as well. Let them help out in hospitals as nursing aides. It isn't fair that they get to enjoy boundless freedom while we owe the farked-up regime our very lives yet get nothing from them in return.Originally posted by depressed:How could NS be meaningful with the way Nsfs are being treated? and is everyone suitable for NS? I would rather help out in a hospital then shoot stuff in the jungle . Millions have gone through NS but billions haven't gone through it. So what makes them special then?
i don't think the muslim countries around singapore is that evil lorOriginally posted by Weirdo80:You need to educate her on what happens to Singapore if there is no national service or the men who sacrifice their time, effort, money and sometimes lives to keep the country safe.
Without NS, the country will fall. Your friend will be captured. First, they will bring her to the interrogation room. Nevermind that she is kicking and screaming, she will soon be bound and helpless. With all that fighting, the entire company of men is horny. She will be forced to service man after man, through rape, sodomy and through the mouth. After they are bored of her, they will start taking off their belts and whipping her, hard. Blood streaks down her back and arms where the blows land. With this complete, they move on to more imaginative forms of punishment. She is hooked up by her teats to a field radio, and electricity passes through her, racking her whole body with seizures and pain. Then they bring on the infamous water treatment. A water hose is forced into her mouth and turned on full blast. When her tummy is filled to bursting, they will jump on it and force all the water out. After doing this several times, she is taken out and tied to a post in a squatting position. A bamboo shoot grows on the ground under her, and in a week, starts to press against her anal cavity, finally boring its way into her large intestine and killing her. Her family is then rounded up and shot in a systematic manner.
After telling her this, ask her if she still thinks the concept of national defence is a joke.
serve already can retain citizenship here, then move overseas study and work get PR. my family still here mah, though i'll be awol across the pacific.Originally posted by hisoka:hmm if not coming back might as well dun serve?
THey do select who the future leaders of SAF. depending when you met these BMTC commanders, i can tell you the past ones are better than the current ones.Originally posted by TooFree:BMTC do not groom commanders instead they groom soldiers.
I have met several outstanding BMTC commanders who although did not do well in battle operation & planning, they excel well enough in their instructional assignment in their respective command training school.
The purpose of this school is to train soldiers with basic soldiering knowledge. Their specific roles, combat skills and knowledge will be further enhance in their respective units.Originally posted by Ponders:THey do select who the future leaders of SAF. depending when you met these BMTC commanders, i can tell you the past ones are better than the current ones.
but how would one select what best for SAF when these commanders themselves do not know what's expected of them since they themselves haven't seen the operational side of SAF.
well, if you talking about instructional methods, everything in BMTC is already in lesson plans. they just follow what the lesson plans say. BUt on the intangible aspects in training them, they do not demand standards, they do not teach to convince but tekan as a show of force.
It has somehow become a culture there, "my sergeant tekan me when i was a recruit, so now it's my turn to tekan them".
Of course i am not saying everyone is like that, but i would say overwhelming numbers have done so that bmtc instuctors are stereotyped.
as for commanders selecting commanders... its really sad... i have personally seen SIT TEST assistant assessors (PC/PS/Sect comds) randomly assigning marks simple because they are tired. Since sit test scoring is somewhat confidential.... i would say he gave his detail like.... first 5 guys on the list X-number of marks. the next 3 Y-number of marks and last 3 Z-number.
So is this not a joke?
Yes.The management is staffed with too many imbeciles.Originally posted by Rockhound:NS is important
but the management is laughable and makes others lives difficult and miserable
