hi, i'm going to leave long hair(past shoulder length) hair after ord, but when report for ict trainings, will the officier in charge approve my hair because i'm in a rock band and my living will b from performing in pubs as a form of earning money. So if i cut the hair, it will affect my work . my question is will the officier approve it? Also wat is the max age for ict? cause i might defer when need to go overseas work. Lasdtly ppl like huang yida and jj lin ah du all these what's their situation like? they got serve ict?

hmm actually theres the stupid rule that says must cut one.. no idea about the rationale for disrupting our regular life for such a minor issue maybe some one wants to enlighten me?

do they even serve ict? if so wat they do? actually wat the rational for this rule? ord ppl are disciplined enuff regardless of their apperance, i agree it is not fair to disrupt our civilian life when we are not in the army liao lor. So strict then how can be creative, how can the arts develop? next time fart also cannot liao i think or will be charged to DB

officier in charge? shouldn't you be more worried about the RSM? afterall he is the one looking out for these kind of things.

You can talk to your ICT CO or RSM before the ICT on your current empolyment situation. See wat they say.
For those singers, it will be the same regime but really depend on where they post to. But then again, their earning power is so much higher than us, u think SAF would call them back to do sai gang meh? -
Talk to the rsm ah? hw good are the chances he will allow the long hair? btw who decides your posting for ict? issit true the vocation might chance?

shouldn't be a issue. i've seen all kind of NSmen coming to DETC/SMM for reservist. long hair, long beard, untidy no.4 etc. anyway what can they do to u? sign extras? cannot be right? charge u? well...

Had an extremely wealthy NSman come back from ICT.He's lived in America for a while..heard he owns a studio.And the customary ponytail, vocation..storeman.
And boy did he take no shit from my S4. -
It depends on your unit. Some RSMs and CO/Ocs will let you get away with it if you have a valid reason, some won't. Also, depends on what the ICT is lah.
There are cases where rock singers have been asked to just tie their hair up or make sure it looks tidy.
but then if you gonna be running up and down hills, digging trenches, or doing fire and movement.. Are you really sure you want to keep your hair long??
Erhhh... the "high salary = less call-ups" doesn't really apply anymore. Trust me.
As for disruption, yes you can. Supposedly they can call you up for service till you at 45 (for men) and 55 for (officers).
But if you don't make the required number of icts, they will just call you back more often as your time comes. You then get posted to different units, and often times, you get stuck in some lousy unit doing "sai kang". Trust me bro, it ain't worth it if you can help it. -

Can, but who wants to go to all that trouble. Charging someone involves lots of levels of command, have to do lots of paperwork.Originally posted by hisoka:definitely can charge you one lah

I am not sure how much in the end SAF "make-up" his pay but my officer shouted at us "DON'T NEED TO CALL HIM BACK LIAO! TOO EXPENSIVE"
But the downside of this is that the IRAS is also very happy with this soldier. -

Odds are that you get posted to be clerk, storeman or some other non-combat type job. Altho I hear that if you just got downgraded to pes C1, you might still end up in a PDF unit. Just that for IPPT you don't need to do whatever station that you are "unfit" for.
He went DB cuz he always didn't show up for IPPT and in-camp. -

In my unit, two reservists did not submit photographs for overseas training. Without photos for the nominal roll, they could not go for overseas ICT although they did turn up on the day of the call-up itself.
