The Medical Checkup
This medical part will take 2 hours. and for those who wear glasses/contact lens, remove them at least half an hour before taking the eye test.
Please bring along the following documents:
NRIC
Medical Report/ Memo/ X-Rays (if any)
Printed Online Medical Questionnaire with one Parent's/Guardian's signature
There are some 8 to 10 stations namely, blood test, eyesight test, hearing test, blood pressure test, heart beat (ECG) test, height and weight, chest x-ray, urine test, uniform fitting measurement such as cap size, foot size. Last station is where you will have a 1 to 1 Q&A session with the MO (Medical Officer), you will also be required to drop your shorts and underwear here for the MO to check for 'hernia'.
You will be given your PES Status at the end of the medical.
After that there is a photo taking session for your SAF 11B card near the counter and at the end, there will be a file with the booklets such as the NAPFA test information, "Get Fit for NS", Recruits and Parents' handbooks...
After the medical checkup, you will go into a room to take the Vocational Assessment test (computer test). About 7 sets of 20 questions each. the sets consider of questions with maths, IQ, reflex, general knowledge, logic and some 'guess-the-next-pattern-after-this-pattern' to determine what kind of vocations suit you the best.
There are some paper and a pen for you to do some calculations.
The test would take 2 hours if you take it seriously. Some "hack care" people, finished the test in 15 minutes simply by skipping all questions using the "Enter" key.
PS: Please don't screw this up, or you will end up in some lousy vocation (mess boy, cook or others) for the next 2 years of your life. For those who think NS is a waste of time, going to a lousy vocation is EVEN a more waste of time.
