Blanks...and yes,u may claim that it actually causes my fouling etc. but still,its a real set back. Also,compared to the M16, the handguard of the SAR21 gets real hot man.

Luckily I'm a GPMG gunner, thank goodness I'm spared from the smart aleck Singapore designed SAR-21. All of the sudden, all other small arms macham lightweight, when carrying them can fly siah.

Let the platoon sharpshooters use a SAR21 with the picatinny rail and a EOTECH sight or a off-the-shelf scope when missions require.Lessens the time wasted in repairing the bleddy thing for fogged scope issues.Originally posted by Shotgun:The extra weight from the SAR-21 i believe comes from that extra piece of kevlar thats supposed to protect the firer's face from chamber explosions.
I think it would be smarter for SAF to outfit every infantry man, guardsman with the picatinny / modular version of the SAR-21. Thats what the US is doing with their M-16 A4. -
Maybe the SAR21 is light to the designers because they are body builders
From reading the posts a list of things to fix.
- Better optics, one with a fog resistant coating on the lens.
- Better reticle for optics.
- Replace LAD with something else.
- Bayonet lug.
- Decrease overall weight
- Position of fire selector and safety. <--- This I think would require a major redesign.
Anything else to add? -
the four piece of plastic covering the led damn flimsy. break have to pay. knn

i think rifles generally shd haf ironsights or at least removable scope if its broken so guys can use ironsight... Though i dun really know the mechanics of the SAR-21... i really think its a stupid gun design... LOOKS good only... and i agree its damn heavy.. i carried one in safti open house. Poor lefties must train using right arm... hai... the designer shd remodel it... standard design much better... take away the bullpup... Personally my fav is the Carbine... short and works like m-16... best of both worlds.. just lack accuracy i guess.

- Currently, only one screw to attach the LAD to the barrel. They should make it two screws. No matter how much I tighten that **** screw, the LAD keeps coming loose after firing several rounds. Then I have to take apart the handguard, retighten the screw, put it back together, re-zero the LAD.... a major pain in the unmentionables. - Replace the fixed iron sights with adjustable ones. While having a 1.5x scope is nice, it means little if it gets cracked or foggy. Having zero-able iron sights would be a far better back-up than fixed ones. -
