Sign On: Worth It? Wise? Outside No Good Job Prospect? How?

hi, im current considering to sign on as miitary police. Im a poly yr2 student. Is it a wise choice ? My fren said MP sux.. wan sign, also sign as navy. I would like to have your opinions abt this and wt does MP really need to do? Thanks in advance.

MP is considered as a service vocation....in service vocation....it has the least allowance as compared to tech or comabt vocation...just my two cents worth

Consider carefully, you won't wanna regret your decision, especially if you're on JPSDS... I would recommend that you experience BMT first before deciding whether a military career is suitable for you... it's never too late...
To me (personal view), MP is a Liang3 Tou2 Bu4 Zhao2 An4 vocation...
Firstly, considering it as a law enforcement career, it's nowhere near a SPF/CNB/SPS career where you get better recognition, authority and exposure...
Secondly, as a military career, although it's a combat vocation, it does not expose you to too much of actual combat... plus there's little recogition, lesser overseas expedition chances and slower pace of promotion compared to larger formations...
my point is, being a MP is somewhat a unique career... but dun take it as a alternative to a conventional law enforcement or military career... if you're happy with performing during NDP/SAF day, arresting ppl for AWOL or looking after the guard room... by all means go ahead

If I didn't remember wrong, the SAF's pay is supposed to be higher than SPF/SCDF. Although I don't know by how much.

The best idea, actually, is to go through BMT first in order to know what it feels like to be a soldier. We can't tell you about military life - it's something you have to experience for yourself.
You may get less money this way, but you may end up regretting a lot less than if you were to plunge headfirst now. -
i'm signing on too as a MP...went thru 2 interviews alr. now waiting for my napfa..as long i get silver, the contract is ready to sign...
main reason y i sign MP instead of other combat vocation, my interest is there. i have some frenz who are in safpu and i asked them for opinions and thru alot of consideration before i went to apply. 1stly, the interest muz be there. u muz know wat are the jobs of a MP. cannot say u like to guard istana den u wanna sign, cuz most likely, u will be assigned to other sub-company. also, u r being rotated around the 7 different sub-companies in safpu...
do consider properly before u go for the interview.. -
Wah.. good leh. Next time u see those guai lan officers, make sure u book them. Hahaha. Some officers... really disgrace. Wear long 4 on bus, den the long4 like never wash one... smelly until the whole bus shifted to the rear. Come on...

but a word of caution ... signing wif the army from my view for most people is a life long thing or atleast a 8 to 10 yrs thing ...
And u can be surprised to know your interests will change once u see how the army runs ...
Bottom line ... Army anytime also can sign .. after ord also can sign ... but life .. after 6 to 8 yrs u cant do much with it ... -

I think after u enlisted,then consider whether want to sign on or not ,i was like you very very interested in signing on at 1st,but after enlisted hahaa many many things change
