Must see where is this occuring first.
If it is outside camp, Both the SAF personnel and civilian are civilians.
That means based on self defence, the saf personnel can defend himself. But if he attack the civilian, it will be considered affray and both will be arrested and charged in civilian court.
If it is inside camp.. Why is the civilian doing inside camp in the first place.. -
Pitot.. stupid things happen. Hhahaa. If the civillian is in camp, and does not have a camp pass... ANY soldier has the right to detain him and escort him to the guard room. If the civilian resists, the soldier may use force.
From camp to camp is different also I guess.
And if they end up fighting cos of this... then too bad for the civilian. -
if u are in uniform and is being assaulted by a civilian, unless your life is in danger please do not try to retaliate. if u are doing guard duty, and if the civilian is outside the camp gate and is showing hostile intents, u cannot deal with him, call the police immediately. u can only open fire if the person is holding a weapon is attempting to cause damage to SAF porperties or life. before shooting, Rules Of Engagements still applies. if time permits, shout warning to the attacker first,
"halt halt or i'll shoot"
always remember to shoot to injure, not to kill. according to the Geneva Convention, we are also not allowed to shoot anybody in the back, no matter how hostile he is. -

The civilian can be arrested by the soldier under the SAF act for obstruction of military duties.

SAF has the rights to detain any personnel indefinitely as long they are found within their premises under the Military Secrets Act.
And also if the SAF personnel is assaulted by a civilian within their premises, SAF has the right to detain, question the suspect for an indefinite time before releasing him/her to the police. Such is their power within their premises they can question a suspect for 50 years and the police has no rights to interfere.
Basically all civilians who entered SAF premises loses their freedom, loses their protection from the law etc.
The words DO NOT TRESPASS meant a lot.
They don't have a high fencing for no reason. It's to keep people in in and people out out. -
Therefore, any civilian within SAF premises are reminded to conduct themselves properly.
They lose every civilian rights in a military base. Even any complicated laws like assault, murder, molest would be first investigated by the SAF itself before it can be converted into a civilian case. -
