Heng Chun... good and bad memories ! was there in the mid 80s. There was a great chinese tomb near the main gate. Huge one, very eerie. Behind the camp is a hill, and to one side of the hill is a cemetary. Ground is dusty (red dust). Food is not bad... during that time, there were some taiwanese soldier cooks helping our SAF chaps in the cookhouse. We were served braised duck rice... Great !
All the taiwanese soldiers there will salute any vehicle coming and going. The word was that they always think that the vehicle commander is an officer. From far away, they will hormat senjata , if they are a sentry with rifle !
Very small camp. But it was the base for OCS and other infantry units going out for Starlight.
