Hmm, the men from 1 MI look like LRRPs to me?

Yupp... strange that they dress in no. 4s and camo cream. The UK has a specialists intel company , I think it is called the 14th MI company. The troopers there are trained in surveillance (plain clothes) and in close combat. Mainly are human intelligence specialists. sorry for not elaborating but do a search on military intelligence and we can see that intel is divided in to several specialities
my best guess is since singapore is such a juicy chunk of patty we would probably cover all the specialities with other extras thrown in -
Formed barely a year ago, 1 MI Bn's role is to provide intelligence to the Singapore Armed Forces Action Group, for increased situation awareness and better decision making, as well as conduct experiments and field trials of new intelligence equipment.

But No 4 is a bit weird -
Come to think of it, MI have other jobs and roles. I am guessing, some of their tasks, is to advise combat units of enemy equiment and tactics. So I guess they also have to learn to engage the enemy to learn.

So are they a actual combat unit or not? From the looks of the photos it looks like they are supposed to be deployed in the field with their jungle hats and camo cream, but then.... Maybe all for show?

There are other elements that operate besides the 1st MI in the field of intelligence. 1st MI is not the only ones involved in HUMINT.

why is their wearing no. 4 and being in camo and all that weird? they are doing military intelligence mah. so they would be playing similar roles as the scouts and BRCs.

It just seems a tad odd that we already have battalion scouts, BRC and Division Scouts, and on top of that LRRPs. And now MI Bn. Seems like significant overlap of work. -

That's the point, we are all speculating. Altho I'd say you guessed rite. But it's still guesses lah.
Aiyah, at this point, they can wear any beret colour that they want lah. But if I were them, I'd skip the whole beret thing and just wear the jungle hat. The beret is pretty useless as a headgear anyway. One less item to look after.... -
Formed in October 2004, the 1st Battalion, Military Intelligence (1 MI Bn) is now ready for a spectrum of Peace-Time Contingency and Counter-Terrorism Operations and field intelligence gathering. Throughout this past year, the pioneering batch of soldiers from the battalion has been through extensive and realistic training to achieve these capabilities.
To recognise the efforts of the soldiers, as well as to showcase the readiness of the battalion, the 1 MI Bn Inauguration Parade was held on 29 September at Lam Kiong Landing Site. Chief of Army, MG Desmond Kuek was the Guest-of-Honour.
The battalion is at the forefront of Army Intelligence transformation, heavily experimenting in new technological systems and weapons. This was evident in a demonstration by the battalion at the parade featuring its Mini-Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and Intelligence Surveillance Teams.
2LT Joshua Ng said, "Since we are the first to use much of these equipment, we have to implement our own operating procedures and doctrines."
Regimental Sergeant Major of 1 MI Bn, 2WO Gilbert Chew said, "As an intelligence unit, we have to be constantly proactive, disciplined, observant and put in effort to collect as much information as possible. My men are capable and I am proud of them." -- ANI
