Would that be taking a leaf out of JID and SID?Originally posted by iveco:1 MI Bn appeared in the newspaper lately. They were reported as having plainclothes operatives who work with SPF to counter terror threats.

....those f**kers are using CAMOUFLAGE LBVs! COOL!
Doing a bit of System Engineering is always fun.And the LBVs, definitely better than our old SBO, especially if you have to run.Originally posted by blue_quartz:This is someone from this new unit. I can see that a lot of questions have popped up here but none answered, so here's the answers to anyone who's interested in re-reading this 3-day old thread...
1. I'm not at liberty to disclose anything more than what the media has reported.
2. We are through-and-through a combat unit. Wearing civi for urban ops is but one of the stuff that we do, on top of the usual military training everyone goes through, i.e. SOC, IPPT, CCT etc.
3. We are (foremost) recce-trained and we were the green beret for parades because we are infantry-trained. We're definitely not LRRPs, and we don't don some silly *pink* berets... Unfortunately, jungle hats are not official headwear for parade, so it's still green berets for now ya?
4. As what the articles have mentioned, what differentiates us from the usual BRCs/scout platoons is the fact that we conduct field trials with new equipment. Once these equipment are deployable, they will be pushed down to the "usual" units, and we'll start to experiment with even newer sensors... A dirty word for this, yup, is guinea pigs...
5. The new camo LBVs have lots of pockets!
If anyone is still showing interest in this thread, I'll try to answer them to the best of my ability, sans any sensitive information.
I guess that's classified, but all things being Intelligence, our "big parent" would be Army G2. We don't belong to a brigade.Originally posted by Hellraiza:our army is really getting a kick over setting up these "experimental" units huh!? Gotta love that yellow triangle...
btw, do u guys belong to a brigade or smth? Or is that classified...![]()
Are you in this industry too?Originally posted by duotiga83:isn't that mini uav skylark?
my intsgt went for the uav course....saw the photo before and saw it in Janes also....Originally posted by blue_quartz:Are you in this industry too?
Are you referring to my unit? As mentioned in the press, most of us are recce-trained, so I guess that's one way to go. We don't have any signal or infrantry specs...Originally posted by Shotgun:So what vocation is it exactly if one wants to sign on as? Signals Specialist? Infantry specialist?
Hey your RSM, WO2 Gilbert Chew, was he from 6SIR many years back?Originally posted by blue_quartz:Are you referring to my unit? As mentioned in the press, most of us are recce-trained, so I guess that's one way to go. We don't have any signal or infrantry specs...
