as far as i know, for commando, education does not play a part ! neither your nafa test result counts.
SOF, i can't be sure, i guess at least an o lvl ? since u need to memorise the battleplan and dunno what else -
Selection is on this month 24 and the next one ard june or july.U have ample time to train hard for the selection.Its arent easy.

During my VA , the officer said mainly A levels students will be enlisted and napfa counts too! otherwise they wun call you for physical evaluation....They select those with high IQ one and those who are fit...i asked this during the interview...Pls commando isnt as lousy as u think...

SOF recruits from other Formations, and this is due to their need for troopers who can think differently.

you are wrong there .... i went in with hokkien bengs, A'level scholars, school dropouts, N'level chaps, poly boys, ITE grads, even chaps who were already working outside until they were enlisted, I'm not sure about the high IQ bit ... (cos there were blur sotongs, like i suppose every else ) .... nor were all of us fit upon enlistment .. can't u read the above post? If education and fitness dun count then wun commandos consider lousy? They don't really look much at the education level though you must be able to have a certain level of understanding and command of the english language. As long as you acn understand and speak it's ok le. What education level you are is just used to pre-judge what kind of language capabilities and maybe your level of critical thinking skills you possess....
But then again, they aren't just are brawn and no brains. They are one of the most efficient troops we have in the SAF.
Deciding to go for the selection is just step 1. Do train yourself to a certain level of physical fitness before you turn up for the selection, you don't need to be very fit to pass the selection because phyical fitness can be trained up. They are looking for qualities other than fitness too. Things like, mental strength, psycho-motor skills, are you a team player and many more...
But having good physical fitness will put you in good stead during the selection. Oh, you need to be proficient in swimming as well

u all mean to miss 1 very important point, never mistake education for intelligence, i had a few friends who went into commandos, and trust me, their academics results were way off the chart, and they purposely failed their nafa, guess what, they got into commandos.
Once i thought the same for the air force, but i know better now

anyway i do think i have high chance of getting into commandos though my academic is way below standard...my A level prelims was screwed up but during the interview i do exhibit very good physco motor skills, good mental strength, fitness and good team spirit...the interviewer was quite impressed with my results and when i asked him if i could get into commandos he scanned through my records and he replied quite high...but he also told me that they take in mainly A lev students...

The onli onli standard there is is a quota...lets say 200 join...but they want onli 10...
so the instructors will hammer the trainees till they reach their max recruitment quota of 10....
