Education level for SOF

Btw during selection, how do 1 pass or fail the selection?
A person can drop out by ringing the bell, will a person be kicked out?
And if a person who went thru all the shit from the start till the end, will he pass the selection? Will he be failed if he went thru all but not the best in any of those selection stuffs?
Btw how to enquire more abt SOF's selection criteria or where to contact if I wanna find out more?(Can PM me)

Nice. not even a small unit like mine was allowed to cheat in ippt. sheesh... i guess it does get stressful trying to mantain a playground like hendon. -

in my father's days, a soldier with 'O' level can be officers as the education among the pop then were quite low...
these days, i dun think there will be any officers with just 'O' level as highest qualification... -

hmm, i've heard of rumours of O level officers every now & then, but haven't actually seen one before. or even know of someone remotely connected to any.
that may make CDO one of a kind; accepting O level officers. do they take in PSLE/N level officers as well...? -

*sigh* Yes, it was embarrassing. When I was there, fudging logistics paperwork was accepted because it was just bureaucratic bullsh!t, but cheating on things like IPPT and shooting were well beyond the pale because missions depended on those. BTW, the last two O-level regulars in the SAF to have been commissioned as officers were Commandos, back in 1992, and they're both exceptional soldiers. -

I'm not against people with low education levels holding officer posts, since one could still be an exceptional soldier without proper education. but it does pose the age of problem of trying to get others to rid themselves of the social stigma associated.
i mean, can you imagine the kind of gossip that would go on if they made a psle grad commander of hendon camp?
as a comparison, even before my 2nd oc came in we were already comparing how slowly he rose compared to our 1st LSA OC, how he was passed up for tours etc etc... wouldn't have been nice at all if he heard what was going on but seriously, you can't stop these things from propagating. -
During the selection,u are not allow to wear watches during normal training even for ur ippt and soc test.They want u to do ur very best.U will never know their training program and dun assume coz they may change anytime.When running, dun assume the instructors will run back to camp when u near the hendon gate,becos they will make a turn and proceed running.In order to pass most of the evaluation, u need a very strong mental.Your physical will be damn bloody tired, so it depend all on ur mind.Dun think wat u going to do tml, coz u may scared and give up,Trust me.Last but not least, u will be facing endless road march and pt.

The guy who's likely to be the first red beret one-star has degrees up the yinyang, but people would have screamed blue murder if he'd become CO. On the other hand, some of the most respected officers in CDO worked their way up and studied on their own time to raise their education levels.
Of the two officers I mentioned earlier, both were on the fast track, but one of them had a bad accident a few years back and that slowed him down a bit. They're currently both majors serving on formation level and very well respected within the unit.
