Ali baba bag still exist?

Nowadays see recruit carrying a balck bag machiam luggage bag, is that the new version of ali baba bag?What is the cost also?Thanks

Cost same as old ali baba but reliability not there yet.
First batches of these new duffle bag have very poor quality construction. on an enlistment day, a platoon of 50, i may have 5-6 cases of buckle breakage. In a BMT phase, about 15-20 of the duffle bags will either tear or break.
However, nowadays i don't see the problems happening. perhaps they did some QC.
nevertheless, green ali baba is stronger, waterproof and more garang -
I remember my old duffle bag, can throw and drag also wont's spoil. Super hardy stuff. I thot of filling it with sand and using it as a punching bag before.

it's real thoughtful, and honestly, i think if i were a recruit now i'd be quite thankful. but one can't help wonder if they're going to introduce a skirt for no4 next... -

i think the year 2003 is the last batch to own ali baba bag. nowadays i dun see any ali baba bag for recruits liao. all dragging it around. wtf
the cost is $30 from credit. can get it at the E-mart. i bought last Dec when i ORD.

june 04 batch is the 1st to receive duffel bags.

all personnel going on overseas missions/postings/attachments are advised to use the new duffel bag. the ali baba bag is not allowed to be used. -

My ali baba bag lasted all through NS and two overseas training stint....super durable.
However, I do envy the new helmets they have nowadays. The old steel helmets we had were heavy, did not fit and were hotl cos' we had to fill it up with sponge to prevent it from juggling around. -
I got the newer bag and I've seen a fair number of rips in the bag lining itself, including my own, mainly where the panels are stitched together.

Last time its special arrangement, go back door of airport, board the plane, reach there also use back door to exit, also come back singapore back door also.
This practice caused alot of customs problems and security issues lah.
The new duffel bag does not look like a standard military item since the ali baba is a very common item even in other armies.
Since now personnel going for overseas exercise "as a civilian", i think SAF thinks it is a better idea to issue you guys a civilian looking bag. haha. -
