anyone knows the ballistic properties of our helmet though? Does it really only protect against fragmentation?

yes... singapore's helmet based on pasgt helmet.
Pasgt = personnel armoured system, ground troops
singapore's helmet catalog name: Helmet, Ground Troops.
The SAF issued helmet is only rated against fragments. It is not likely to defeat a round head on.
There are Ballistic Helmets available, but more commonly used by Police units. Weight difference can be quite significant.
