Yeah man.One minute I'm telling a OCT to read the coursebook for MIS time and time again before asking me questions when I'm on end-of-month OT, the next thing I know,he's the one I send my monthly reports to.Originally posted by Gordonator:it's just a strange thing. 1 moment i'm bringing this OCT for prowling during guardduty, a few months later i see him come back as Duty Officer.![]()
I have doubts shooting deserters will be effective. If someone is scared .. he might just shoot you for self defense using his rifle. I think let the MP handle deserters will be more effective.Originally posted by AF2005:they have to because, they will be the one ordering soldiers to fight in the front and shot any derserters on the spot no matter how tough the battle and HQ order is.
If leaders are weak, then the whole fire team/platoon/company will collapse.

Cos they were awed/shocked/overwhelmed by the multitude of colourful and imaginative designs (white/orange/golden bars, fish, fish-with-line, crab-in-cage etc etc) sewn onto the epaulettes of OCTs..Originally posted by SpecOps87:Haha,my commissioned officer fren, told me before that sometimes recruits address OCTs as Sir.Haha..I wonder why

Anyway i dun think recruits bump into OCTs very much, do they?
correctOriginally posted by cornyfish2000:Uh, from this i suppose TST has been totally removed from the syllabus?![]()
cos recruits never step out of tekong so blur what, never see all the ranks before. so they'll address everyone with anything on their epaulettes as SIR.Originally posted by SpecOps87:Haha,my commissioned officer fren, told me before that sometimes recruits address OCTs as Sir.Haha..I wonder why
Well just wait till they bump into a CWSM or CSSM lor.. Can just imagine the keh kiang platoon i/c stamping his feet loudly, shouting 'platoon diam!' and then saluting the OCT from 20m away, leaving his own PC too stunned for words.Originally posted by CKtalon:correct
Ya..Section Field Camp or some form of POI when OCTs go to Tekong and some report sick..
I wonder for those CPS (Cadet Platoon Sergeant), how will the blur RECs greet..SGT or SIR?

But understandable lah, i think if i were in the REC's shoes, new to the army, i'd be super awed too by the large and unique ranks on the epaulettes.
They will not get the chance, nor will the OCT 'obey' the PTEOriginally posted by SpecOps87:Hmmm...so PTE rank is bigger then OCT huh? Wonder wat if some siao private got tekan an OCT...hahah

watever rank u are... u are, in a nicer term SERVing gov. SERVing people of singapore amd paid with TAXpayers' money.Originally posted by SpecOps87:Hmmm...so PTE rank is bigger then OCT huh? Wonder wat if some siao private got tekan an OCT...hahah
That true all are just clivil Servants, serving the people so the highest rank is the uncle n auntie in kopi tiam Lol (just joking)Originally posted by mach10:watever rank u are... u are, in a nicer term SERVing gov. SERVing people of singapore amd paid with TAXpayers' money.
in a lousier term... u "hun gou fan chi"... got it?
rank doesn't matters as long as u are a trainee, be it u are a 3SG, 2SG, u still must listen to the instructor who has a appointment, whether he's just a CPL or PTE.Originally posted by SpecOps87:Hmmm...so PTE rank is bigger then OCT huh? Wonder wat if some siao private got tekan an OCT...hahah
That's rightOriginally posted by kopiosatu:if you're an OCT, you're an OCT. Officer Cadet Trainee.
Trainees will have no rank irregardless if you're a PTE or MAJ. if you get what I mean
During my NS (1993-1995), were an ammo technician in Pasir Laba camp. In charge of issuing and receiving ammo from Unit training. When OCS come to return ammo, alway tekan those OCTs and their officers, arrow them to bring the cartridges here and there, ask them to check the empty cartridges.Tell them to help carry those unused ammo back to the storehouse in the middle of the night... Tell them that there are live rounds mix in the cartridges, and tell them that empty cartridges are short. Need to go back and find again the next day, else we will book them.Originally posted by Gordonator:rank doesn't matters as long as u are a trainee, be it u are a 3SG, 2SG, u still must listen to the instructor who has a appointment, whether he's just a CPL or PTE.
of course lah, not any tom dick and harry PTE can anyhow tekan a cadet, unless he has a appointment over the cadet.

Even though i am PTE for the first year, still can arrow them to do things, since this concern ammo.. They got no choice and have to obey and they dun even know my rank, cos i am wearing vest and slack..
There was one time, when it is around 2 am in the morning, when they come back to return ammo after exercise and they messed up with all those unused ammo and we have to slowly check through. Then one OCT was shouting at me, asking me to hurry up cos he was tired and want to go back camp. I just tell him to shout up cos this is concerning ammo and i also tell the officer that if his OCTs make some more noise, i will make sure that the officer and his OCTs, wont go back to camp early... I dun mind delaying the returning process slowly, cos i can go back home to sleep the next day at 8.30am. They cant...
